I laughed out loud about the arrow on the screen!

LHS's avatar

Yes. That shows weapons-grade idiocy.

Alec's avatar

Classic MAGA, in other words.

David Walker's avatar

I love it—weapons-grade idiocy, to go along with the WMD (Weapons of Mass Distraction).

Marah Joseph's avatar

Yeah and we know which of the two was "real".... found in abundance among MAGA!

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

Yes, I wonder if someone's MAGA-nephew who they think is a "computer genius" faked it for them.

Getting a giggle anytime these months is worthy of

bragging 😉

Well done Jay.

Christina Gray's avatar

Very well done on this particular issue. I would like to see serious investigative journalists delve into (1) how Epstein so quickly amassed a huge amount of money apparently out of nowhere, (2) Epstein's alleged ties to international intelligence (in particular, Mossad),* and (3) his relationship with Les Wexner. The latter man is trying very hard to distance himself from the saga and has a long-known, poorly hidden, skeleton in his own closet.

*It was Alex Accosta who said Epstein "worked for intelligence." As did, apparently, Ghislaine's father, Robert, who was found to have fallen off his yacht and died in unusual circumstances. He had known ties with Mossad, several high-ranking members of which attended his funeral in Jerusalem.

Mark In Colorado's avatar

And for those who don’t follow Les Werner, he acquired the lingerie business Victoria's Secret in 1982. You can draw your own conclusions from that.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

Epstein claimed he was a Victoria's Secret talent scout to get young girls.

"Wexner’s L Brands owns Victoria’s Secret and Epstein tried to get involved in the recruitment of models for its popular catalog, the Times reported. That troubled executives at the company, which used talent agencies to scout models. Wexner was alerted by executives and reportedly said he would handle the issue, but Epstein’s involvement in trying to attract models continued.

Wexner ended his relationship with Epstein in 2007, after the time Epstein faced accusations of sexual misconduct with minors. Epstein cut a deal with Miami prosecutors that allowed him to avoid federal charges and pleaded guilty to lesser state prostitution charges."

https://www.cnn.com/2019/07/26/business/jeffrey-epstein-les-wexner-business-relationship

Christina Gray's avatar

Let's just politely say young girls don't factor here, even though they likely did with Epstein during his time here in central Ohio.

Marah Joseph's avatar

Not catching your hint... what are you getting at?

Christina Gray's avatar

It has been poorly kept secret for years in the Columbus area that Wexner is gay.

David Levy's avatar

Another question — if poor Virginia was 16 when Epstein ‘stole her’ from Trumps spa, how young was she when Trump first hired her? What kind of ‘spa’ was he running?

HulitC's avatar

To obtain a massage therapy license in Florida, you must complete a minimum of 500 hours of education from an approved school, pass a licensing exam (such as the MBLEx), and undergo a background screening. Additionally, you need to be at least 18 years old and complete a 10-hour Florida Laws and Rules course.

Christina Gray's avatar

Good question, the answer of which could come from the investigative reporting I suggest above.

Marah Joseph's avatar

I don't knoe about the USA, but here in Australia it would not be legally allowed in a workplace - letting a minor massage an adult male - unless there was a supervisor present, looking out for the girls' safety.

And this would only ever be likely to happen if she was a student, doing placement hours toward a massage therapy qualification.

arne link's avatar

Robert Maxwell's body was never found. Some say he got a new identity and is living happily ever after.

Marah Joseph's avatar

Was there any further investigation after that?

Christina Gray's avatar

I don't think it went too deeply into his death, but investigations into his finances went on for years.

CathyP's avatar

Zev Shalev has done investigative reporting on these aspects. If you search for him on Substack you’ll see what he has shared.

Christina Gray's avatar

The article needs hard sources, not just narrative. It is useless without the sources.

Colby Boss's avatar

Today, Ghislaine Maxwell was moved from her Florida prison to a prison camp in Texas with even more minimum security. Where yoga and pilate classes are available to her. What the heck is this about? What was she promised by the corrupt regime that visited her last week? Is it easier to "off" her there? This web is massive stickiness!

HarrisWalz FTW 2024's avatar

Where did you get that information? And define "prison camp." Right now, that term conjures up visions of the hellhole in Florida, not a Martha Stewart prison experience.

HarrisWalz FTW 2024's avatar

Of course, more freedom of movement almost certainly allows for more areas with spotty camera coverage.

arne link's avatar

She will have to give Trump full exoneration before she disappears.

HarrisWalz FTW 2024's avatar

Can't help but wonder if she's afraid she'll be Epsteined, whichever side of the (non) gate she's on.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

She's got to have a "dead man drop" that is multiple reports that go out to the press and her lawyer with very clear detailed names and proof. In the event something happens to her. I certainly would.

Alec's avatar

Not going to lie, I won't be sad if her new 'fellow' inmates take the chance to arrange an accident.

Lance Khrome's avatar

Maybe Maxwell and new carceral colleague Elizabeth Holmes can arrange a 2-for-1 pardon deal..."unfair trial! Persecution!"

Colby Boss's avatar

Yes, I agree that while prison camps for immigrants are despicable, apparently prison camps in our federal systems are much more Martha Stewart!

https://www.politico.com/news/2025/08/01/ghislaine-maxwell-prison-doj-meeting-00488424

HarrisWalz FTW 2024's avatar

That is not a prison CAMP; it's a white-collar prison. Not the same thing at all. Verbal sleight-of-hand on their part.

Colby Boss's avatar

I read that it has no fencing, so it qualifies as a "camp". Maybe it will be easier to "off" her there? The point being that sex offenders do not qualify at all for prison transfers or for minimum security. Unprecedented once again!

HarrisWalz FTW 2024's avatar

Maybe they're hoping she'll "try to escape" and that will be how she tells no tales.

arne link's avatar

She has to exonerate Trump before they can get rid of her. One way or another.

HarrisWalz FTW 2024's avatar

Wait...did you mean there are no walls of chain link topped by razor wire, or that on movie nights they aren't allowed to watch Robin Hood or The Princess Bride?

Terry's avatar

More proof to me that there are some very shady shenanigans going on...

The more he tries to explain it away the more it looks like a very poorly planned cover-up. Obviously he hopes to either pardon her for her testimony that he was not involved with sex trafficking and raping girls or she's there so she can escape or be murdered...time will tell.

HarrisWalz FTW 2024's avatar

Surely, SURELY, even his handlers...such as they are...know how terrible it would look for something to happen to her. I mean, for decent human beings, this move she's just made ever so quietly is bad enough, but if she actually does turn up dead? Even his biggest bootlickers in Congress would have a tough time with that one.

Terry's avatar

But they aren’t decent human beings and he has immunity after all 🙄. If he can have a 2 billion dollar plane what’s the life of a woman worth…/s

Bambi Vargo's avatar

Expecting her to "take her life" in the next week or two. She knows too much.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

She's got receipts or she would not have lasted this long.

Mary S's avatar

Thanks for this. I always enjoy your posts because you bring your analytical lawyer's mind to cut through the smoke and mirrors BS for us.

And, yes, really enjoyed the mention of the cursor! 🙄 (Which I hadn't heard about anywhere else.) Between the elements of pure evil in this regime, and the elements of totally incompetent buffoonery, it can be hard sometimes to focus on the basics - but you always manage to do so! 👏

Evelyn Scolman Lemoine's avatar

The regime's ineptitude continues to boggle the mind. Part of it is that trump's web of lies is so extensive that he can't keep them straight. But what really makes this whole fiasco so delicious is the incompetence of Bondi, Bongino et al. He got his loyalists. Too bad he never stopped to figure out whether they could add 2 + 2 and get the answer 4. They better come clean soon--before even more inconsistencies come to light. Maybe then, maybe, we can turn our attention to the victims instead of those who preyed and those who covered up.

arne link's avatar

That's right, feral cunning. Also, evil.

SPW's avatar

If memory serves, there were questions at the time of Epstein’s death but naturally with Bill Barr at the DOJ then, those questions quietly died on the vine. Again with a moribund press and a boatload of presidential bullshit, what might have been a rigorous investigation under other circumstances just got lost in the shuffle.

Rowan C. Blake's avatar

I'm exhausted.

Lance Khrome's avatar

The CBS reconstruction of the cellblock, camera positioning and angles, plus inconsistencies in accounts of the two COs on duty at the time of Epstein's — *caff-caff* — "suicide" yet again keep the Epstein saga percolating in the news. The online magazine Wired already reported on the "stitched-together" reworked PUBLICLY released video of Epstein's last hours, with CBS noting that the FBI, DOJ, and Bureau of Prisons have the entire, intact original video, and as yet HAVEN'T RELEASED IT.

So here we are, approaching the sixth anniversary of the alleged "jailhouse suicide", an event seemingly put to rest years ago, yet back again, with added questions and unsettled "evidence" still open to re-examination. Wonder is that some of that evidence hasn't been as yet "disappeared" or destroyed. Leverage? Protection? Will we ever find out the truth?

Randall's avatar

FBI, DOJ and BPS may SAY they have the unreacted video.

Aren't these the same entities which said the released video was raw?

Might be a good idea to maintain a bit of skepticism about anything these clowns say.

To me, the truly interesting question is why they thought they'd get away with the edited video - was there no one in the loop willing to say that this is transparently obvious? Or did they WANT everyone to know the video had been edited?

Jermu Nyberg's avatar

Maybe somebody inside wanted to sabotage their attempt of a cover-up.

arne link's avatar

Oh, Lord. Hear our prayer. I hope that there are still some forces for good at work to save our country and punish the guilty. JD wins if Trump goes down, just saying.

Valery King's avatar

This is Trump’s Watergate, although the crimes are way worse than burglary for hire. His own moronic lies will take him down.

Stephen Brady's avatar

tRump’s need to surround himself with idiots - people who don’t know enough to be able to argue with him may be what finally undoes him. Good piece, Jay!

Wis's avatar

I keep hoping that…

Mark In Colorado's avatar

Thank you, Jay, for weaving this together so well.

Charles Bastille's avatar

Upvoting for not letting this slip away from everyone's news feed. Trump will try anything to distract, including claiming he's sending nuclear subs to Russia in one of his little online spats (this time with the equally nonsensical, and powerless, Dmitri Medvedev, Russia's former prez).

arne link's avatar

I don't understand why the public gets notice of when and where our subs are deployed. Doesn't that seem strange to you?

Charles Bastille's avatar

That shouldn't be public information. It's probably Hegseth's doing. Same guy who announced to the world, with photographs, that B-2 bombers were being stationed on open airfields in Diego Garcia right before Trump bombed a few garbage cans in Iran, thus exposing them to a drone attack.

David Browne's avatar

In the words of Johnny Carson, speaking about another President who had problems with recordings: What did he (DJT) know and when did he decide he didn’t.

Wis's avatar

What I’m afraid of is that the Epstein details and timeline, while you put it all accurately and clearly, present a scenario too complex for many Americans to follow (ie, maga, the population that needs to see it). Sound bites are pithier - maybe yelling out, “show us the timeline!” whenever trump speaks publicly- that might catch on, getting people to question for themselves to see that he’s rewriting history. Multiple times. 🤷‍♀️

Thanks, Jay! As always!

Etaoin Shrdlu's avatar

If Trump didn't have the $40 million to buy the property, that money apparently came from the Russian. When the Russian then bought it from Trump 2 years later for $95 million, Trump was up $95 million because his own original cost was zero.

Ethereal Fairy's avatar

American Banks were not lending to him, at that time because of his cheating them so many times.

LHS's avatar

Why has Gislaine Maxwell been moved from a prison in Florida to an allegedly minimum security prison in Texas?

Geoff Anderson's avatar

Because she's gonna be pardoned

Phil Brennan's avatar

Or set up for an attack on her!

Alec's avatar

Trump's going to pardon her.

Whether he manages before someone kills her for being a child sex trafficker is entirely up to him at this point.
