Today is my birthday, and in lieu of messages and gifts, I’m hoping to inspire you to give to the Human Rights Campaign, which is working to protect LGBTQ+ kids and families against relentless assault by the right. From hateful and politically motivated bills targeting trans girls in sports, to Child Protective Services inspecting homes where kids have been given gender affirming care, to bills outlawing even the discussion of LGBTQ identities, it’s easy for many in the community to feel helpless and alone. The AG of Texas recently even declared that Pride Celebrations in schools are illegal in that state. HRC helps ensure that these kids and families know that we have their back.
I currently sit on the national board of HRC, and I’ve pledged to match $10,000 of the contributions made to this fundraiser. Since I’m now 54 as of today, I’d love to have 54 folks respond with donations!
If you’ve ever felt powerless to stop the hate, here’s your chance to help contribute to the good folks who are in the trenches in red state legislative battles and the courts. You can find the fundraiser here.
Thank you for being a loyal reader, and thanks in advance for your help and support. #54for54
I stopped all contributions to HRC when they endorsed Susan Collins over Shenna Bellows. I am still offended. But I will restart on your recommendation. And Happy Birthday!
I’m good for 54 plus one to grow on!
