“Republicans behaving badly” is a given in any week nowadays, but in this one they seemed to outdo themselves. It started with a lawsuit filed in New York State court against erstwhile Trump attorney and cautionary hair dye tale Rudy Giuliani. The complaint was filed with lurid and honestly pretty gross details about Rudy’s sexual abuse of a former staffer. But since I don’t want to ruin your morning, I’ll instead highlight that the week only seemed to go downhill from there for Rudy.
For example, this was back to back in my search feed.
We need a new term: Schadenfrudy?
Speaking of pathetic people having a bad week, Disney decided to axe the $1.3 billion Lake Nona Town Center project in Florida, which would have led to some 2,000 new jobs, citing “changing business conditions” in the state. Someone on TikTok captured Gov. DeSantis’s reaction.
(I’d list the artist’s credit here, but you can see it in the upper left, and I really shouldn’t type that out…)
Someone caught a clip of Ron DeSpawn laughing and put it in loop for a minute. It’s really unfair, but also hilarious because he is so very awkward. Click to watch, and see how long you can stand it.
DeSantis also fundraised for the white killer of a homeless man on the NYC subway, calling him a “Samaritan” whose back Americans should have. Civil rights lawyer Qasim Rashid summed up the current GOP position well.
Over in the House, Republicans scrambled to avoid an up-or-down vote on expelling George Anthony Devolder Santos by referring the matter to the Ethics Committee, where it has already sat for months. This commentator captured the moment well.
10 bonus points for the Trumpian reference!
White supremacist Marjorie Taylor Greene (Q-GA) got into a public spat with Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) on the Capitol steps. She held a press conference later where she called Bowman “threatening,” said his “physical mannerisms are aggressive” (they are not), claimed she feared for her safety, and then actually said this (click to watch):
Folks had some thoughts.
Also, I found this is a good idea:
A worst of White Supremacist Marjorie Taylor Greene video was inevitable. (Click to watch, if you can stomach it…)
Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) gave her a run for most idiotic House member with this tweet, in which she appears not to know which day comes before which in the week, then unironically asked how stupid CNN thinks the American people are.
Oh, BoeBoe. Read the chart from the bottom going by day of the week. See where Title 42 ends Thursday at midnight? Now, think really hard, did the numbers go up or down after that?
Elon Musk was still in the news, this time defending his actions over on Twitter, which appear to be negatively impacting his other companies. In his own defense, he compared himself to the character Inigo Montoya from The Princess Bride. Then this epic response from Mandy Patinkin landed. If you know the show, you’ll know why I cackled.
Speaking of takedowns, here’s reporter Ben Collins explaining how time works to Fox News. (Warning: the underlying story is disturbing.)
Fox News was having lots of issues with its fact checking this week (Month? Year? Decade?). Here’s Fox mouthpiece and I-need-to-speak-with-the-manager Laura Ingraham, wondering how anyone could make up a story about homeless vets:
Recently freed from his wife’s evil aura George Conway replied FTW:
Speaking of lies, AP ran a story concerned about how misinformation on elections is thriving on Twitter.
The top comments below it, all from the fake blue check crowd, proved the point perfectly. No notes.
I’m stepping away from our democracy falling over the cliff for the rest of this post, I promise. So I found an account that collects great ads. Here were some of my favorites:
And who hasn’t been here:
And this was me last night, finding this meme.
Have a great weekend! And don’t forget to tip your writer!

I am joining the White Supremacist Marjorie Taylor Greene trend. If that causes her to blow her fuse at least once - it's worth it!
"erstwhile Trump attorney and cautionary hair dye tale Rudy Giuliani." Almost gagged on my yogurt on that one! I should know better than to eat or drink while reading this. Thanks for the weekly update, deadly and funny as usual!
