2022 was a rollercoaster of a year in our politics, from the riveting January 6 hearings to the nail-biter of an election that saw the feared Red Wave crash against a sturdy Blue Wall. The Supreme Court stripped away a fundamental right to abortion while Congress scrambled to protect the right to marriage for LGBTQ+ couples. Russia launched an brutal war in Ukraine with a horrific human cost, but in response NATO came together as never before and even expanded its membership.
What will 2023 bring? A divided GOP? Indictments from prosecutors? Paralysis or partnership in Congress? More defeats on the battlefield for Russia? Whatever the year holds, we’ll be here to discuss and understand it together.
So happy new year to all of my readers. Thanks for your support, encouragement and kindnesses in what admittedly has been a tough year for me personally. 2023 beckons, so let’s roll up our sleeves and fight to keep this democracy together.
With warmest regards,
Jay
