Like Charles pointed out, it is impossible to keep up with all the grift. But let's add that Tulsi is really Tulski, who is little more than a Russian asset and never was.
The New Yorker has the number at $4 billion, I believe. I'd have to check my email, which I'm not inclined to do because at these numbers, who cares? It's massive, and Republicans are covering for him, with many of them feeding at the trough themselves.
I comment below that once dems have some power back and rip the lid off this administration’s protective iron pot, what we will encounter will be a writhing, festering mass of unheard-of corruption. I guarantee that we only know of and/or suspect a fraction of the actual corruption that’s been going on.
I hope everyone of this Regime's brown nosers (house and senate, from the lowest city, county, and state's Collaborators) are removed and given the Nuremburg type trials that they deserve.
The only problem with that, of course, is that so many are motivated to keep the lid on. But I have trust in the righteousness of enough people to get the process, moving no matter who is uncovered.
You’re right , Sooz. They’ll be motivated, of course, but not in control anymore, nor as motivated as dems are. I’m not counting billionaires- just dem/rep, so I recognize my naïveté there. But dems are angry and determined. Maga/republicans are scared and exhausted with the lying and being booed by the public and only having support of trump insofar as you sell him your soul and your vote or you’re fired or sued or canceled or berated and memed or all of the above by trump personally. It’s demoralizing (or I hope it is!). 💪😉. So if we get more control, I think we can pry that lid off, slowly! It will take years…
Trying not to give up here, but I live in a constant state of low grade nausea and high grade anxiety as we wait to see if all of our efforts to save this country will be enough.
We’re all exhausted. I agree: it’s excruciating and demoralizing to see what’s happening daily to this country - hourly, actually. We must all take a swig of Pepto and keep going! We can’t let up! To quote my bumper sticker, “RESIST!”
There is more we can do. The soldier, athlete, farmer; some times call for higher grades of association among those that seek a better tomorrow. These are the times.
Somebody should write a little Substack extension where you can just click an icon on your browser and this phrase gets inserted into posts about Team Predator.
This country's security is so completely compromised that we HAVE NONE at this point. Our country is being run by Israel, Russia, or likely both . Only the operatives, Kushner, Gabbard, Witkoff, happen to live in this country. EVERY member of Congress has to be deaf dumb and blind nor to just stand up and bring Congress to a screeching halt. .....unless...there's something in it for them?
They have been told they'll all be oligarchs in the near future. (Otherwise, they'll have whatever dirt "they" [Putin? Bibi? Saudi Arabia? Or maybe Putin's Boss?] have on them released.)
If it happens that there are no elections, I doubt that the expiration of terms will have any effect. This administration is all about illegality and shredding the Constitution.
I don’t think it will happen that there are no elections but I do think it will be a huge mess. States run the elections, and smarter people than me have said that it would be very difficult to have no elections. And I think that pressure that would come from everyone would be huge. But don’t read what I say, look at people like some of these Substack columnists like Mark Elias, Robert Hubbell, Jan Rubin, and many more.
Yes, I realize there's a large segment of pundits who pooh-pooh the idea that there might not be elections. Others, such as Thom Hartmann and David French, are extremely concerned.
If Rump invokes the Insurrection Act, as he's frequently threatened, all bets are off. As there are 26 states with GOP governors, with 23 GOP trifectas and 24 triplexes (per Ballotpedia), I think there's definitely a non-zero chance that there won't be elections. I absolutely won't make the assumption that voting is a given. How many other things has Rump done that he "couldn't" do? Even if the Dem governors sued, how long would SCOTUS take to rule?
Alternatively, if Rump wanted to preserve the fiction of elections, he could just subvert the voting, the same as he did in 2024.
Nobody I read Poo poo‘s the possibility of that happening,. In fact everybody’s worried but what they do feel is that if we get to work there are many ways to attack the problem. You could create any doomsday scenario in your mind but let’s get busy and work at creating barriers to that doomsday scenario.
Oh, he'd love that! But he might want to preserve the illusion of a Congress for awhile, just to keep the peasants under control. Plenty of time to ease into total dictatorship next year or in early 2028. ; )
Denise- There will be elections and it’s up to us to make damn sure they’re free and fair. Please don’t help the regime by spreading their idea that they can cancel elections. It’s a lie, and they love it when you amplify their propaganda.
It's a lie, according to you. We'll see. In the meantime, I'm not amplifying anyone's propaganda, though I've seen that statement elsewhere. As are others, I'm simply looking at all the hundreds of illegal things Rump has done thus far, and is getting away with; combined with his normalization process; plus his testing of the waters about canceling the midterms. He's done many lawless things so far under the guise of emergencies, and with few exceptions, he hasn't been stopped. By the time the courts catch up to him, the damage has been done. He's been talking for months about invoking the Insurrection Act. Do you think he wouldn't do it?
And if he does, all bets are off.
I could reverse your comment and say that by insisting that he CAN'T do this or that, such as canceling the midterms, you're helping to lull people into a false sense of security, and they won't see what's coming.
After all, many of us thought he couldn't send the military into an American city. How long were the Marines in L.A.?
Suit yourself, Denise. Our local Indivisible group certainly shares your alarm about the malevolent intentions of this regime. Instead of taking the Chicken Little approach though, which helps them spread fear and discouragement, we’re following the lead of the national coalition of resistance organizations that includes Indivisible and about 200 other top tier pro-democracy organizations. These folks have been planning strategic and action-focused election protection for 2026 since the November 2024 election.
In the words of Leah Greenberg, Co-founder of Indivisible, our message is this: They are losing and they know it, so they will try everything they can think of to steal this election. They will fail because we will stop them.
The more we repeat this message, the more Americans will be strengthened to protect the elections and the election results.
For the nuts and bolts how-to, check out this post by Scot Nakagawa of the Anti-Authoritarian Playbook. Anyone can pick an action from this list that’s approriate for your location and do it. This is how we win.
WHY is speaking about a possible danger being a Chicken Little? Why is it alarmist to take into account all scenarios and prepare accordingly? Instead of proclaiming that "It could never happen," or, as you specifically said, "It's a lie," would it not be more productive to take the Felon at his word and cover all the bases, in case his hints are indications of his intentions, as is nearly always the case?
Suppose, for the sake of argument, all the Dem/Independent governors, senators, and representatives prepared strategies---lawsuits and other tactics---ready to launch to save elections if the Felon invokes the Insurrection Act? And then Rump backed off on his plan. Would that be a tragedy?
I think Indivisible, 50501, and other organizations are doing absolutely invaluable work; I applaud them wholeheartedly.
But you attacked me personally here and accused me of being complicit in right-wing propaganda, spreading lies. This, simply because I'm one of many who believes that the tRump regime is tipping its hand with all the mentions of canceling elections and not having to vote anymore.
With that, I'm done defending a concern that's perfectly reasonable, under the circumstances. I don't need permission to suit myself.
Tom Cotton’s response will be easy for supporters of the felon to swallow. They won’t ask questions like, “If it’s a nothing burger, why did they redact it all before showing it to the Intelligence Committee in congress?”
All of this seems familiar, the shadiness, double speak, the attitude of"nothing to see here",and at the same time there's a giant neon lighted arrow point right back at the very same person,as usual:T****.
And as usual, we're left asking,"What have these goddamn morons did THIS TIME??"
Once again, they've stepped into yet another shitpile up to their necks, stinking to high heaven, and swearing everything's good.Sure dudes, whatever y'all say...🤨🙄🤥
Peeling the onion discovers example after example of dereliction of duty. Only one recommends impeachment. More than one demands it. An entire ‘onion’s-worth’ guarantees it.
I can’t think of a writer who could imagine the many ways any administration could be this corrupt in so many different ways. Thank you for keeping us informed.
Tulsi Gabbard sounds like a mini-Pam Bondi with the Epstein files. The only difference I see is that she didn't "forget" to redact the victims' names… Gabbard is clearly trying to hide something that anybody connected with intelligence needs to know about. If she is supposed to be protecting national security, she clearly has no idea what national security is or why it's important.
How many cover-ups do they have got going now: Epstein, the Minneapolis murders by ICE, DNI whistleblower. I'm sure I'm missing some.
Like Charles pointed out, it is impossible to keep up with all the grift. But let's add that Tulsi is really Tulski, who is little more than a Russian asset and never was.
"Our little Russian darling." - RT News.
Russian media calls Tucker Carlson: "Our Tucker" as well.
It's almost impossible to catalog all the crime and grift: https://www.ruminato.com/p/the-scope-of-trumps-presidential
Wow!
The New Yorker has the number at $4 billion, I believe. I'd have to check my email, which I'm not inclined to do because at these numbers, who cares? It's massive, and Republicans are covering for him, with many of them feeding at the trough themselves.

ME TOO! Well said, Catherine!!
Truer words have possibly never been spoken. It's going to be real jaw dropping stuff, and a lot of people will be swept up in it.
The only problem with that, of course, is that so many are motivated to keep the lid on. But I have trust in the righteousness of enough people to get the process, moving no matter who is uncovered.

They will have to be.
They will all face the music some day. It may be a while, but America will not go gently.
Well said.
I agree with you 100%!
We’re all exhausted. I agree: it’s excruciating and demoralizing to see what’s happening daily to this country - hourly, actually. We must all take a swig of Pepto and keep going! We can’t let up! To quote my bumper sticker, “RESIST!”
Ditto.

Russian state media referred to her as "Russia's girlfriend," FFS. She should never have been nominated or confirmed to be DNI. Again, FFS! JFC!
Does original whistleblower have original copies of his submission? If yes, give it to the gang.
I do worry for his or her safety.
Or leak it all directly to WSJ ?
Yes, haven't they turned a corner though! It's like the old WAPO in a way.
i'm afraid rump is buying off, or scaring all of them!
This country's security is so completely compromised that we HAVE NONE at this point. Our country is being run by Israel, Russia, or likely both . Well....if there are no elections, everybody gets to stay in office and basically get paid for doing nothing.
Except their terms naturally expire on Jan. 20, and they have no job no position and have to go home!
If it happens that there are no elections, I doubt that the expiration of terms will have any effect. This administration is all about illegality and shredding the Constitution.

Yes, but If the worst were to occur, trumpolini, wouldn't "need" any of them and he won't pay them, because he could steal their salaries.
Oh, he'd love that! But he might want to preserve the illusion of a Congress for awhile, just to keep the peasants under control. Plenty of time to ease into total dictatorship next year or in early 2028. ; )
Fair point.

You said all that much better than I did, thank you.

Good point.
The Republican Senate put her and others in their positions and they are part of this cabal of evil!
And we don't know the half of it.
Horrible creatures, every stinking one. EVERY.
Tom Cotton’s response will be easy for supporters of the felon to swallow. They won’t ask questions like, “If it’s a nothing burger, why did they redact it all before showing it to the Intelligence Committee in congress?”

Only it's not another shitpile -- it's part of the one enormous shitpile that's on the verge of smothering our democracy.
Peeling the onion discovers example after example of dereliction of duty. Only one recommends impeachment. More than one demands it. An entire ‘onion’s-worth’ guarantees it.
My brain can not even comprehend how much shady, evil stuff is going on behind the scenes with these people.
I can’t think of a writer who could imagine the many ways any administration could be this corrupt in so many different ways. Thank you for keeping us informed.
I don't think Gabbard, or anyone in the administration who's broken the law, is worried. They're counting on a rigged election in November.
Let’s ensure that doesn’t happen. We can prepare for what is surely coming.
Rigged election or not tRump or Vance will pardon everyone to hide the crimes. May already have.

Keep writing Jay, and we the people will keep reading. But be careful. These people are desperate. Stay away from windows!
VERY interesting!
