My mom's Left party friend in Germany was also sending me an article from some horrid Libertarian publication about an African spy ring being prosecuted in Miami by the feds for working for Russia. This publication was treating the topic as if the US government is paranoid about people spying for Russia. Clearly I am too, or I would not be subscribing to Spy Talk, and other such sorts of publications. I live in the US and Germany and both countries are big targets of Russian interference from what I can figure out. I have read about Putin's behavior back in his East German Stasi days, and from what I can figure out, it seems like he played both sides against each other to get what he wanted. Typical spy. Russia is led by a spymaster. So, that is probably Putin's biggest contribution to governance of his country, is employing spies.

It's just an article about a true thing that happened regarding recent FBI indictments and right-wingers being paid by Russia. I can't think of a reason it would be taken down other than that they don't want people to know about it.

Isn't there some technicality to trying someone for treason, like we have to actually have declared an enemy first? I don't think we've officially identified Russia as an enemy, have we? Maybe the most they could be charged with is acting as an undeclared agent for a foreign country....? I'm just asking because I'm not clear on this at all.
Not a lawyer, but I think for treason we technically have to be at war with the country. However, they are under US sanctions so maybe there is something there?
