When I looked at the picture that musk posted of Elizabeth Warren in the headdress I thought, this country is going to be run by a bunch of developmental three-year-olds

Expand full comment

That's an insult to the three year olds!

There are no adults in the room. The Trump administration will be like the playground at an unsupervised daycare.

Expand full comment

I see it as the junior high playground. A hotbed of cliques, gossip and not very much care about actually doing any work.

Expand full comment

Except that those playgrounds are relatively safe for the kids who play there. This playground will be seriously dangerous for normal eveyday US citizens.

Expand full comment

Those playgrounds have never been emotionally safe, and in many inner city schools they don't play outside because of gun violence. And they might be unsupervised.

"... a bunch of developmental three-year-olds" with access to wealth (and therefore power) beyond the wildest dreams of any in modern history - and continuing avarice that beggars belief.

I am thinking more like middle school, with the puberty hormones and the mean boy, mean girl coming out.

Me, too.

Musk is just super troll. He enjoys it. A large part of him is 14 years old. Afraid of women, unsure of his own manliness, still sneaking out at night to cause trouble.

Expand full comment

At this point it's fairly obvious that Musk was bullied as a child, and now he wants to bully everyone else. We are all going to suffer now.

Expand full comment

No. That is not an excuse. A lot of people get bullied and abused - I am one of them and I have many friends in the same boat. It is perfectly possible to be a bullying survivor and NOT grow up to be a complete a$$hole.

Expand full comment

I didn't say it was an excuse.

Expand full comment

More a result than an excuse, right-o. I didn't take it as excuse either.

I am one & know many as well, survivors of significant neglect & abuse that do not continue the cycle. It doesn't matter how deep his well of need, no one gets to make the rest of the world pay for injustice done to them. It's a zero sum game, compensating for childhood wounds. Understanding what may be behind the behavior is in no way license for bad behavior. At least as often as not, I see survivors of abuse being overly responsible, not refusing to be accountable, not being bullies. Far from 'if you can't beat 'em, join 'em', one of the greatest concerns is doing to others what was done to you. When this guy doesn't even have the emotional maturity to know himself & look at his own ethics, he's sure no genius to be trusted with great influence. We should NOT "suffer" this, tolerate this behavior. Those that aren't standing against it, are enabling it. These are things survivors know.

Trump and Musk aren't the result of being bullied, they're the product of parents who never told them "No" to anything except affection.

Expand full comment

Trump, yes. Musk actually was emotionally abused by his father according to credible sources (ie not him). Not that it makes him any better, only that we can see where the cycle of abuse he's inflicting on his own kids started.

Expand full comment

There was the mashed potatoes on the head incident.

Expand full comment

The abused becoming the abuser. Not so special after all.

Expand full comment

From the sound of it (thanks once again to Behind the Bastards and Some More News) his father was one of the worst bullies, mostly emotionally but possibly physically as well. It doesn't surprise me, since he went on a very popular Australian radio show called 'Kyle and Jackie O' saying he isn't proud of him and much prefers his brother.

This doesn't justify a single one of Musk's horrendous behaviours, but it sure explains a lot.

I think it's fair to say that, like Trump, Elmo has on-going daddy issues.

Musk is a threat to democracy. He needs to be investigated and his companies regulated. The good news is he and Trump can only appoint a few thousand people, but the federal government has several million. We have them outnumbered a thousand to one. Public servants will undermine Trump just like during his first term: https://democracydefender2025.substack.com/p/how-to-subvert-trumps-second-term

I pray they can do so.

Musk is a ridiculous repulsive person. He should not be allowed to buy our government or have security clearance.

Personal anecdote; my 2nd cousin, now in her 70’s, used to work for the CIA back in the 70’s. We, her next generation cousins, have always been curious about what she did and in the last few years have asked her about it. Was she in admin? Did she do secretive stuff? Who knows? All I know is she was overseas. She graciously skirts the questions and has never given us any information. Zero. Nada. Everyday public servant; living true to her duty.

A real life Lioness! :-)

Without the Taylor Sheridan macho BS.

I think if Musk doesn't slow down, he's going to be assassinated by someone with an axe to grand. Or he'll just overdose. He's so impressed with himself which is not surprising, given his upbringing. He literally lacks the guardrails of how to get along in society. I doubt he even realizes the hatred against him he has created.

A simple thing We The People ALL can do is boycott each of his businesses. He’ll bankrupt X all by himself; we can help bankrupt Tesla by not buying any. The message will be loud and clear, and just might facilitate his undoing.

I know someone who is getting rid of her Tesla because she loathes Musk so much.

Saw one recently with a bumper sticker that said, "I bought this before I knew he was an asshole". I beeped and waved at him!

At this point, it is obvious that Elon Musk is a clear and present danger to the nation and should be regarded and treated as such.

And to the world

Expand full comment

There's nothing apparent about his conflicts of interest. They are clear and blatant. Meanwhile, corp media shrugs.

It's all very depressing. I cheered when Elon's SpaceX developed heavy falcon booster rockets that could be returned to Earth and land undamaged, to be reused indefinitely. That was a huge advance for space travel, because it allowed more frequent launches, and made them much less expensive. But our priority needs to be the future of the only planet we have. There's plenty of time in the next 250,000 years to move to other worlds, as long as we don't destroy that blue dot we call home. Elon's priorities make no sense.

When I worked at PayPal shortly after Elon left, I didn't see any of his code in the code base. All the big boss code, so to speak, was by one of PayPal's co-founders, Max Levchin. I say this because Musk has built or designed no rockets, either. His technique is to work others to the point of utter exhaustion so that he can take credit and line his pockets.

And you're right. Musk's desire to colonize a dead planet full of rust makes sense only to little boys of all ages who play video games all day.

Expand full comment

Musk has never created a damn thing in his life. Everything he's built has been on the back of other people's work and his talent for theft. The Cybertruck is the only thing he's ever actually tried to design and it SHOWS.

Also on a personal note I play video games most of the day (gotta stay sane somehow) and am male when I'm not enby and I'd give the man such a verbal bollocking if I ever had the misfortune of meeting him. Gamers don't want him! He's an outrage tourist, not one of us!

Expand full comment

Sorry, I didn’t mean to profile gamers! I love video games, too, but too much, which is why I’m not a gamer. I’d never leave the computer. Ever. I probably wouldn’t even eat. I know because it’s happened, which is why I stopped. I’m glad to hear you say what you did, and I love the term “outrage tourist.”

I still don't understand why Musk is walking free after attempting to impact US foreign policy, being a private citizen without any credentials or authorization to do so. Remember Ukraine? Remember Starlink?

I work for a Federal contractor and had to be vetted by the FBI (all to answer phones). Believe it or not I had to do an interview with them and everything. But this...person can simply ignore it? Bullshit.

Are there really no adults in the incoming administration? It more & more feels like everything is being handed over to a bunch of 5th graders (and I don’t mean to offend any 5th graders with that statement).

Expand full comment

Nope. Not a one. Perfect example: reported today - Herschel Walker to be Ambassador to The Bahamas.

Herschel Walker. Ambassador. It hurts when my eyes roll this hard...

Please, Bahamas - Reject him; you have that right. No other country HAS to accept whoever our admin appoints.

Does he even know what the Bahamas are or where they are located?

LOL! I seriously doubt it. I mean, he may very well have BEEN there, but most likely with others who booked the trip. "Hey, Hersch - wanna go to a casino and then to the beach?"

We'd be very lucky if the incoming bunch WERE as mature as a bunch of 5th graders. I believe they are at about the emotional maturity levels of toddlers. Maybe.

Quick view from UK on that last point:

It’s bad enough that he’s interfering in your politics, but he can get his nose right out of ours. Reform are mostly a bunch of racists, and Farage is the biggest hypocrite out there! (So yes, they suit Musk, but no one needs to see any more of either of them than we already need to)

I live near the Air Force base that sends Elon's starlink rockets off into space. We used to launch a few a year, this year there were about 50, and now next year, they are looking at 100! That's 2 a week! The sonic booms rattle and shake window, scare children and dogs, and are becoming the biggest nuisance as they are often in the middle of night. So people wake up frightened at 3:00 am. How he ever got to be this powerful is quite frightening, I am concerned about the damage he is doing all over our country and possibly the world. Who can stop him?

We talk about Trump's retribution agenda, but now reading about the Musk/Trump corruption agenda, I find myself wishing retribution on all the Members of Congress who ignored Trump's law-breaking, ignorance, and bigotry; who didn't impeach and convict him; who gave him free rein; and those who still grovel before him, betraying our Constitution and America's rule of law. I imagine Trump will grant Musk highest level security clearance and anything else Musk wants.

In musk‘s defense (did I really say that?) the people who drive Teslas are for the most part a-holes. I live in the Bay Area and they have overcome the reputation of people who drive BMWs. They are reckless, always have to be the first in line at the traffic light - even though everyone catches up with them at the next light - they weave in and out and don’t signal. It’s no wonder the rate of car crashes is so high in Teslas

And boy do firefighters hate when they catch fire. Really REALLY hard to put those out - the amount of water required is mind-boggling.

Same here in AZ. We had a couple of them acting exactly as you've described just today while out running errands. Disgusting and dangerous.
