The obstinance within the Democratic Party is bad, but I can’t help being thoroughly disgusted that not one Republican cares enough to do the right thing and get rid of the stupid filibuster. Seems like majority rules everywhere but in the damn Senate, for crying out loud! Well, the electoral college too, and that has outlived itself too. Thank you, Jay, for keeping us focused on the right things! I’m from Georgia and will be doing my part for Warnock and Abrams here.
Dr. King paraphrased Rev. Theodore Parker who said so eloquently:
"Look at the facts of the world. You see a continual and progressive triumph of the right. I do not pretend to understand the moral universe, the arc is a long one, my eye reaches but little ways. I cannot calculate the curve and complete the figure by the experience of sight; I can divine it by conscience. But from what I see I am sure it bends towards justice.
Things refuse to be mismanaged long. Jefferson trembled when he thought of slavery and remembered that God is just. Ere long all America will tremble."
Thank you for reminding us so clearly of our history (and how much has changed in a relatively short time -- but that we have to keep fighting) and for keeping us hopeful!
If things don't change between now and midterms I don't see how we will be able to win any more Senate seats, I see the Republican strong hold just continuing to get stronger and many more anti voting laws being passed before midterms to ensure this happens. It sickens me in 2022 we are being stripped of abortion voting rights. The only hope I see is if Senators and members of Congress are removed for their participation in Jan 6 before midterms, but some days I don't hold much hope anything will happen on that front.
In John Michener's book Alaska, he wrote about the discrimination of the Chinese people toward the end of his book. They were essential workers in the salmon canneries but were forbidden by law, to live here year 'round and had to go back after canning season only to sail here, again, for the next season. There were many interesting points about this in his book.
Thank you… I needed that! Really despairing now at the state of our country

Thank you for making me realize we can not give up in our fight for the rights of all.

This beautiful and eloquent statement of rights and aspirations and struggle gives me hope. Thank you.
Jay: Next to “Allegiance,” this is the best thing you have ever written.
Thank you for the inspiring message. You give me hope.
Having hope is one thing but we also need to fight for it with our votes. If we don't like a situation, we need to fight with votes to get results.
Thank you.
