Trump advisor Steve Bannon is facing two counts of contempt of Congress in his upcoming criminal trial for his refusal to appear before the January 6 Committee to testify. Earlier, Bannon defiantly had promised that he would turn the case into a “misdemeanor from hell” for President Joe Biden. Instead, it is looking more like a legal hellscape for Bannon. This comes after a federal judge ruled on Wednesday that evidence concerning Bannon’s primary legal defense—that he was only acting on the advice of counsel—could not even be presented during his trial.
Will we ever have a fair legal system where all citizens can have a staff of attorneys who will try much of the cases against us in pretrial communications and in the court of public opinion in advance? I just get so sick of this stuff day after day after day. If I was in the pokey for contempt of congress my wallet would not stretch to this level. Too much of the justice system is for sale.
I don't recall that Susan McDougal was able to avoid going to prison pretty fast for refusing to testify about Clinton. She was incarcerated for almost 22 months. Why is it Trump and his cronies are all above the law? Enough already!
My heart is warmed when balls and strikes are called fairly. I will never agree with every decision, but when a sound argument is presented and the law on the books are followed....
