I looked up the image of the cheato in front of a huge banner with the Become ungovernable in a wild font behind him…They are merciless hypocrites.

Jocelyn B's avatar

Excellent! Can you post a link?

Pam Birkenfeld's avatar

Just search on whatever you use for searches. Put in “Trump standing in front of sign saying be ungovernable at Libertarian conference” . And for more laughs than that even, read some of the stories, apparently when he showed up there he got heckled and boo and generally dissed!

Meanwhile, the federal government is working hard to make sure there are NO consequences for the federal agents who murdered Renee Good and Alex Pretti. Their killers have not been arrested. The federal government refused to even identify them. They concealed and destroyed and discarded evidence, and worked hard to prevent state law enforcement from having any access to the evidence that remained or being part of the investigation at all. Kristi Noem and many others in the administration and right wing propaganda ecosystem smeared Good and Pretti as “terrorists” while their bleeding bodies still lay on the streets of Minneapolis. ICE and CBP fired tear gas into the people around, including their family, friends, and neighbors, and *prevented* any bystanders, including a medical doctor, from rendering aid as Good lay dying. DOJ and this administration is led by people who are dishonest, lawless, and pure evil. We see them for exactly who they are.

As Jay has pointed out before, the process IS the punishment. They are trying to inhibit anti-ICE activity by making people think about what they'll be put through, even though a conviction is highly unlikely.

They have REALLY read the room wrong up here. These defendants are going to become heroes and martyrs to the Nth degree. If you thought Kyle Rittenhouse's crowd-funding was something to see, our community is going to cough up for these folks to make certain they are well-represented and don't suffer economic hardship.

Pulling out the shopworn "ANTIFA" label to try to rally their own base is getting a bit feeble as well.

Will it distract from 1) The Epstein Files 2) The debacle in Iran 3) Inflation 4) Corruption 5) DC Dog and Pony show extravagance? I can't say. Trump definitely knows how to distract simply by existing.

Unfortunately in Spokane, WA the government tactics worked. “Jury finds 'Spokane Three' guilty for their role in an ICE protest in downtown Spokane. A jury has found three people guilty for their role in a protest outside of Spokane's ICE facility in June 2025.

Jac Archer, Bajun Mavalwalla II and Justice Forall, referred to as the 'Spokane Three,' were arrested last summer after attempting to prevent two Venezuelan men from being transported from Spokane to an ICE detention center in Tacoma.”

Spokane Mayor Lisa Brown issued the following statement regarding the verdict:

“Since the federal charges were filed, I have maintained this prosecution was politically motivated. It was meant to make an example out of people who disagreed with federal immigration policy.

“The right to peacefully protest and criticize the government is a cornerstone of our democracy.

“We cannot allow these verdicts to silence us.”

Each defendant faces up to six years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.

I am very sorry that the tactics worked in Spokane. I appreciate that you have put the truth out where we can learn about it. And I wish the best for those victims, with no jail time and no fines greater than $50.

Spokane is so far east in Washington State that it might as well be ruby-red Idaho.

Each day shows another attempt by this regime to make the US a fascist state. While the DOJ and the FBI are spending so many resources on bogus political investigations, it must make regular criminals feel free to do their thing!

Charles Bastille's avatar

It feels like they're testing the court system for their $70 billion outlay in new ICE/CBP funds.

I'm at a point where I would like to see any prosecutor who files frivolous law suits be disbarred. Basing a conspiracy on one facebook post that is exactly the same as the theme for the Libertarian convention is ridiculous. The suit should be thrown out of court and those who brought it should receive maximum punishment. IMO.

Vickie Berry's avatar

My PBS local radio station reported that many judges are writing to the respective bar associations for possible disciplinary actions.

Susan Stone's avatar

Oh, yay!!!!! I am really happy to hear that. Thank you for sharing such good news.

Lois Levenstone's avatar

Agree completely. If they want to keep citizens from protesting for fear of bogus charges, DOJ lawyers should also fear being disbarred for unethical behavior

Susan Stone's avatar

Very good point. I like it.

Annie D Stratton's avatar

It was thrown our with prejudice, which means that the evidence presented cannot be used in another attempt to accuse- and really makes the prosecutor's office look bad.. Hopefully that will help discourage other prosecutors from trying similar tactics.

Susan Stone's avatar

I hope with you. But it seems like their playbook includes bringing frivolous suits to punish the people they sue, even though they know the suit will never go anywhere.

Daniel Kunsman's avatar

What I can't fathom is, why are the victims of these frivolous charges not filing lawsuits? BIG lawsuits, that will draw national attention. I know damned well I would!! Where are all the so-called 'ambulance chasers'? If ever there was a situation for an attorney to gain notoriety, this would be it! Not to mention putting the Nazis in their place.

Susan Stone's avatar

I agree with you, but can also tell you that I'm not sure I would file a lawsuit in a case like that, because that's not how I want to live out the remainder of my life.

Daniel Kunsman's avatar

But I also don't want to live out my remaining years watching my fellow fighters drowning in debt brought on by having to defend themselves against this Nazi regime. I'd MUCH rather see it in reverse, and I'd gladly contribute to my fellow fighters' legal fees.

Susan Stone's avatar

I hear you. And contributing to fighters would be an excellent cause.

coordinating activities to slow down an ICE deployment for 30 minutes is not a conspiracy to "impede" federal law enforcement. good god, how disingenuous.

Kenneth Hines's avatar

Maybe it’s just selective photojournalism, but G7 pictures make tRumpf look isolated and remote, even on a crowded stage. I entertain the idea that he experiences his disconnect, but then remind myself that he lives in his own egocentric world, incapable of seeing reality. He still is the center of the universe, feels Godlike and unassailable and interprets everything in his own favor, as hard as that may be to fathom.

Wis's avatar

That’s because all the other G7 leaders despise him. Plus, I’m sure he emits a stench that would blow back a buffalo. You’re spot-on though, Kenneth: trump sees, hears and believes only what his narcissistic brain allows. You know, like at the Knicks game when the entire space was awash in boos and anger when his face appeared on the Jumbotron.

He said he heard “mostly cheers”. Some say he knew better and was being disingenuous, and that he felt the hate. I’m frankly not so sure. His ego is blind and deaf - and more stupid than a bag of hair.

Margaret Maier's avatar

I think it's beginning to sink in a bit for him. He's still delusional and living in the land of positive thinking, but he's overseas with a group of people who 1. don't like him, 2. don't respect him, 3. try not to engage with him as much possible, and 4. refuse to play his reindeer game. His small entourage is having a hard time counteracting the hostility of the Europeans. And the other attendees can speak foreign languages and dis him right in front of him. He's likely the butt of a million insider jokes.

Once he comes back to the US, he'll be telling us all how successful he was - which is just bluster.

Wis's avatar

Beautiful, Jon! The sad part is, trump would caption that wonderful photo precisely that way: “The very first meeting of ANTIFA.”

He’s so ignorant, cruel and obtuse.

JudiLI's avatar

As stated in another post about the Broadview Six dismissal, “the process is the punishment.” The courts need to punish these baseless prosecutions and the prosecutors. I think by dragging what happened in Minneapolis last summer into the news again will just created more anger about the regime’s current intimidation attempts.

Annie D Stratton's avatar

Well, good. I hope that happens.

We are getting very, very clear messaging from this administration that we need to be afraid, to stop speaking out, and to not attempt to take part in our democracy.

I’m very fearful about the mid-terms.

NANCY Jambor's avatar

Keep faith. Vote early if you have the option. Protect your ballot by taking it to a secured ballot box ( library or election office).

Cate - a Snowball in Hell's avatar

No worries. I’ll vote. Even here in Ohio, everyone’s aware that we could flip blue just because they don’t like data centers, the voter registration information given to the Feds, and last Friday’s FBI raid of a voter registration place as they claimed fraud. Here. Where they haven’t been scared before. So I will sure as hell vote and continue to urge everyone to do so.

I still fear for our midterms, but not in a hopeless way. In a “we must be doing something right, so keep up the pressure” way.

Defiance til death

Annie D Stratton's avatar

I'm not. The messaging that the Trump administration is giving out is that it is weak and feckless. People are getting more and more put off. Polls are increasingly against the actions the administration is taking. Those polls include republicans and independents who had been leaning right as well as Dems and progressives.. That, I think, gives considerable room for hope in the midterms.

Cate - a Snowball in Hell's avatar

I think there’s a high chance of flipping us blue, but I sure don’t trust this administration not to hamper fair elections or call for martial law because they know they’ll lose otherwise. How do we best prepare ourselves for those inevitabilities?

Cate, try not to let them cow you - that is definitely their mission. Keep coming back here and to other substacks for support and boosting and community - all nonviolent resisters are treasured and respected here. It’s a fabulous community that feeds the soul 💕 when all the government wants to do is starve it 😠.

So the Republicans are attacking libertarians and unions in an election year. Brilliant.

... a richly ironic told-you-so for people prosecuted by the Federal government for posting a Libertarian slogan.

I'd hate to think what would happen if tRump's bullies got hold of the texting that my lady friends and I, all in our 80s and 90s, text each other about how we absolutely despise tRump and all the fiascos he is causing at home and around the world. They'd probably raid the old folks home.

Wis's avatar

lol!! Same here, Margie, though I’m in my 50s! I rail against this regime every chance I get, in nearly every context! I know I’m already on the list of subversives at the FBI, and have been since at least 2016. If I’m not, the FBI is useless at their job.

So come to think of it, I may *not* be on that list. The FBI *is* useless.
