Thoughts and prayers to the MAGA corpse, which, by the way, Trump looked like when he stumbled around Xi's long red carpet, which seemed truly designed to show off Trump's feebleness.
The Chinese know who trump is unlike the US media or his fellow Rs. Make no mistake, if he lives long enough, he’ll betray them, too. He’s already started.
Why the continued cautious optimism about the 2026 midterms? As Heather Cox Richardson has pointed out in her latest post, with the help of the John Crow Supreme Court, the GOP is actively moving to lock in the Deep South as a single party region. I mean this as a genuine question. I grant you 2026 is different than 1926, because Black people can vote. And the ongoing stream of protest photos posted by Robert Hubbell have a whole lot of White faces. But the avid racism, Trump worship, and hatred of all things liberal which defines the cultures of these states remains intact. So what is the path to "victory" in 2026 I keep thinking you and others are alluding to?
The idiocy, corruption and the hypocrisy of the Trump administration are now baked into the daily news. I think it is important to keep pointing it out daily, but do you think that is going to make a difference at this point? It has become the norm for this liberal hating culture. 77 million people voted for it in 2024. Think they won't again in 2028? And in the same 7 states that determine the election? Again, I mean it as a genuine question. Not a rhetorical slap back.
You are correct-as long as there are no consequences for republicans disregarding the rule of law and the constitution this lawless behavior will continue unabated .
As Marc Elias recently said “Throughout the Trump-era, the goal has been simple: win elections by making it harder for Democrats to vote and easier for Republicans to cheat “
This trend continues day after day -hey democrats you need to show some fight -
He continues to be optimistic because it’s the likely scenario. Sure, they’re going to get some seats out of this blitz. But it will not be enough to overcome the tidal wave coming.
I appreciate your sentiment but God has no role in this debacle. He’s tone deaf. Or he’s totally deaf from everybody shouting at him from all sides of the issues.
It will make you feel so much better. I am planning on doing some post card writing. I'm also putting money into Simon Rosenberg's audacious expansion fund. The antidote to anxiety is action and community.
I have been writing postcards and letters. Have been a poll worker. Will sign up to take folks to the polls. Need to engage with “Republicans” that put party over country. That’s the tough nut.
I don't understand why only 63% of Americans blame trump for the high gas prices. Are the other 37% blaming Biden??!! Jay I loved how you put the icing on the rum cake.😁
Jay, you left out the "renovation" FUBAR of the Reflecting Pool, now turning into a grotesque, sketchy-looking DIY weekend project attempted by a group of drunk neighbors. And to cap it off, trump now claims "I don't know the contractor, he never did work on my properties", and of course the "I didn't hire them, it was somebody at Interior...".
Classic trump, and — oh, the price is now up to $13mil, with costs sure to rise when redos of the current contractor fuckups are factored in...MAGA!
I subscribed about two weeks ago, and continue to be impressed by the thoughtful, informative, analytical presentation of current news. Would be helpful to those not familiar with independent journalism if the MSM would do as thorough and fair a job in their coverage.
Never underestimate the power of the People! The incompetence of the orange blight's regime is hurting all of us. All the money in the world can't control a population as large as ours, if we're angry or scared enough.
Putin made the mistake of thinking he could invade Ukraine and succeed in three days. The orange blight thought that Iran would surrender to his terms too. Oops, that hasn't happened either. If the billionaires, techbros, oligarchs and foreign operatives think that the American people will let them become our dictators, think again. How long do they think we'll tolerate their yachts, gaudy displays of wealth, manipulation of information, etc., without question? Higher prices, increased inflation and higher unemployment caused by their control of the orange blight's regime, can't go unnoticed for much longer.
trump's comment that he doesn't think about Americans' financial woes is the truth. Unfortunately the rest of the spiel is the usual lie: keeping Iran from a nuclear weapon is just a talking point. I don't believe that's really important to him, because it's not something that would glorify him.
Mayes Middleton, who is trying to become the Texas AG actually ran an ad that said: Mayes Middleton and Donald Trump fight against perverts and predators! Said it without even a smirk on there face!
I’m still worrying about the multimillion dollar bunker that’s being constructed under the ballroom site. It’s bigger and safer than the old one. And the rush to finish it? Perhaps when he sends out his Brown ICE Shirts and declares the Insurrection Act, he plans to retreat to his underground bunker. Just like Hitler? Just. Like. Hitler.
Every day I become more sure of why the Republicans are not at all worried about the Midterms. The results WILL BE the results pre-determined by the administration. I don't see how anyone can honestly believe the GOP will stand by and abide by the voters' decisions. Look at the Southern states right now. I maintain hope, I'm not a quitter, but they aren't giving up this gravy train--no way, no how. And what, really, can we do about it? The ultimate arbiter is SCOTUS, and they own that too.
Wouldn't taxpayer funding of the ball room require the contract to build it be subject to FARS and competitive bidding? And wouldn't that mean the plans would have to be completely public, at least as to the ballroom part? Even if there is a "national security" reason to keep the bunker plans secret, wouldn't this issue allow litigation as to whether the trump chosen contractor could continue as to the ballroom? And delay the stupid thing.
I notice that the distraction has finally worked. Not a peep today about the Epstein Files. It has taken awhile, but it seems clear that Trump has successfully moved on from that accountability.
I posted about them on social media. Others have been highlighting testimony from one of the victims whose identity was revealed 500 times while billionaires’ names were blacked out.
Just to be clear, I wasn't attempting to "blame" the lack of peep. Just something I'm noticing across the board, in all of my feeds, and late-night comedy, etc. It is vanishing. Quickly. We have Ballroomgate, Irangate, Chinagate and so much more to distract now.
Pedophiles be free!
Oooh! Borowitz just in with a China/Epstein zinger. I feel a little better.

The stairs. All those steps, lol. I was just scanning the broadcast, but I paid careful attention then.
He kinda looked at them like he was thinking, "No way I get down these things alive. If I die tumbling down these stairs, I'm gonna sue ChYNa!"
The Chinese intentionally made that red carpet long to showcase Trump’s feebleness. Showcase the pathetic orange supplicant.
I know they did. It’s so funny. I laughed out loud when they actually turned a corner and hit another length of carpet. :-)
They should have gone ahead and made it a maze.
I can really picture the people responsible for set-up yukking it up on WeChat.

From your pen to God’s ears
I appreciate your sentiment but God has no role in this debacle. He’s tone deaf. Or he’s totally deaf from everybody shouting at him from all sides of the issues.
We all need to do ALL we can to help get out the vote! About to move way out of my comfort zone.
It will make you feel so much better. I am planning on doing some post card writing. I'm also putting money into Simon Rosenberg's audacious expansion fund. The antidote to anxiety is action and community.

Sen. Susan Collins of Maine said she’s not sold. You forgot the YET :)
I wouldn't trust her.
In no universe would I trust her. I’m not sure that hesitation is still convincing.
Collins is both bought & sold simultaneously...how is that possible/
Exactly. Wait, just wait.

You have to laugh. That Patel thought $7, 375 was a bar tab just shows you where he's coming from.
I hope Van Hollen gets Patel charged with lying to Congress.
Mayes Middleton, who is trying to become the Texas AG actually ran an ad that said: Mayes Middleton and Donald Trump fight against perverts and predators! Said it without even a smirk on there face!
What's the old adage? "We seldom see ourselves as others see us." That goes triple for Middleton.
They fight against perverts and predators being held accountable or even revealed!

I fear the bunker is to protect trump and all the magas while he nukes the rest of us.
Have no fear. Collins will fall in line.. Her "concerns" are merely a sound bight.

"What was I wrong about?" - Scott Jennings. Ah...right out of the GOP playbook -- the chapter on how to "double down" on stupid.
