With the House narrowly passing its version of President Biden’s ambitious Build Back Better (BBB) social safety net and climate change legislation, all eyes are now on the Senate where its future is, at least at the moment, unclear. Two senators, Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona, must get on board in order for the bill to pass with 50 Democratic votes and one tie-breaking vote from Vice President Kamala Harris. Many fear they will use their unique power in an evenly split senate to sink the bill entirely. But what are the chances of that happening?
Seriously, Democrats are their own worst enemies, sometimes. Do they not realize the once in a lifetime situation we're in? Republicans are literally trying to destroy the entire country and put themselves in power, forever. They make heroes out of murderers, they support insurrectionists, and they bow down to the orange fuhrer. Democrats, on the other hand, are acting like everything is normal and this is just business as usual. They don't seem to get that if they pass this bill, it will help them gain seats in 2022, because it's benefits will have kicked in by then. That's assuming that they pound the point home that Republicans fought hard and voted against this. Them getting that message out, continuously, is key. Obviously, Manchin and Sinema like the count exactly where it is. We need to make the 2 of them irrelevant in 2022, by gaining seats in the Senate. I'm glad to hear you're holding out hope for this bill, but, I will avoid getting my hopes up until it's actually signed by President Biden. Then we get to watch the media try to tear this down and once again, give the microphone to the Republicans who fought against it, at every turn. Ugh. Fingers crossed.
Not holding my breath thee two might as well be republicans they do nothing to help the people who need it the most and bigger picture is they are protecting their own best interest versus the people who voted for them. Sadly the BBB-plan will sink it’s almost guaranteed!
