Today’s piece highlights how extreme, dangerous, and truly deplorable the new face of the GOP has become in such a short time. Here are some lowlights in just the news from yesterday, ranging along a sad spectrum from the morally sick to the dangerously unhinged.

Likely Rachel Maddow. If you count two (2) News Cycles a day, Rachel was covering the New Mexico Shootings 14 News Cycles ahead of National Media. As Rachel's Team members know, there are still brilliant LOCAL news outlets in this Country. Rachel often puts LOCAL reporters on her show to give them the National exposure they deserve.

Mr. Pena is a convicted felon. He was a member of a smash and grab group and served several years in prison as well as on probation for those offenses. He had his voting rights restored when his sentence was completed. A judge ruled that if he was eligible to vote he was eligible to run for office. (Per PBS News late evening.)
How much power will MTG really have on the committee? Boebert et al say they demand that the FBI, DOJ, etc., appear before Congress and answer their questions. Do these agencies answer to Congress or is a lot of it just show? I also wonder how the mainstream Republicans will feel about Congress tackling all these investigations instead of dealing with inflation.
“Mainstream“ Republicans have been OK with everything their party has been doing for the last 20 years. Why in your world do you think they would start to be concerned about it now? 
Because I have a number of old school Republicans in my family that are very conservative and have commented about these "jerks" in Congress now who are all show and not doing anything for the people. Nothing in the past compares with this lot. Many mainstream Republicans were also appalled at the Jan 6th attempted coup. They think these "jerks" are crazy lol.
So did these appalled Republicans vote for Democrats in 2022?
I’ve some acquaintances who also claim they are bothered by what their party has become. But even while expressing “this is not MY Republican party” sentiments, their actions are to continue to support Republicans with votes and donations.

Yes some of them did vote for Dems. I think a lot more of them are disillusioned because what they thought was going to happen with Trump, never panned out and now they are not happy with these idiots.

I hope the Democrats have their messaging machine running overtime, targeting each of these renegade Congress members individually for their votes on the floor or in committees, exposing every one of their moves. Then there has to be a big national messaging campaign on the debt ceiling and the exposure their constituents have personally. Every day there should be someone well known enough to be listened to on these insane tactics. And as for subpoenas -- didn't the likes of Jim Jordan refuse to honor them? Why would any Democrat? Enough hand wringing -- get out the PR machine and expose these people on a daily basis.
It is not a "Debt Ceiling" as ex-Senator Claire McCaskill says, it is NOT about "extending your credit limit", it is about "making your car payment". If you do not make already scheculed paynents your credit rating goes south like a duck 🦆 in Winter 👇 & your interest payments go UP. ☝️
We’re going to have to take a deep breath to get through the next couple of years. And all the while the media wants to make more of the Biden documents than is necessary. I can’t be more emphatic about how I could care less. I would put my life on the fact that it was an accident and nothing nefarious on his part. I heard a local station’s republican say that he pretty much believes the same thing but also called it a cover up. From who? He called DOJ immediately!
