This will be a movie someday. Hoping it ends with the loud clanging of the bars!

It is hard for me to know how Mr. Kuo kept track of all the players in this story , let alone relating them to each other. Thank you!

It will be fascinating to see how all this plays out - although I hate stories that leave me hanging with “To Be Continued.”

There sure are a lot!

Spoiler Alert ... the ending will be criminal-ish.

No doubt *trump is really pissed that this two-bit clown is horning in on his news cycle territory. Look for him to call him out. In fact, his advisor, Jason Miller, has done just that, saying "Get rid of this loser!" Yeah, who wants to be associated with such a lying scumbag? You really can't make this stuff up. Oh, wait . . .

Given the GOP’s habit of filing election grievance cases early, often and without merit, where is his challenger and the state on filing a fraud case against him asap and maybe getting a special election set up…there seems to be no end to his fable. Why isn’t this legally considered fraud? Forget the investigations and committee brow beatings and let the courts decide.

The GOP will file false claims of election fraud at the drop of a hat.

Democrats won’t call Republicans out on their shot because that would seem rude.

The basic nature of the two parties.

Wow. Just....wow. With all that going on, how could his entire campaign/persona NOT be somehow containing a load of criminality? This is one big pile of stink, for sure.

Jeez! You need to have a cleaner record for a line cook in this country. We are in *dire* need of reforming our list of qualifications for those running the country,

Thank you for the explanation. Sad that the GQP has suck so low that they are incapable of embarrassment and devoid of ethics. Morally bankrupt doesn’t begin to cover it.

They have indeed suck low.

If Santos doesn't take office ( or does and then resigns), would the Governor of New York be the one to name a replacement?

Expand full comment

No. Article 1 Section 2 clause 4 of the US Constitution requires a Special Election to fill a house seat. Unlike the Senate, where a Governor may appoint a person to take the seat until the next general election is scheduled, a house seat must be filled by special election.

Thanks!

From what I heard the governor isn’t the one. I assume a new election will take place. If I’m wrong, then I hope someone here says so.

The GOP pile is getting incredibly deep now. The crap is hitting the fan, but will it end the way it should? Let's hope so.

Nice. Can you remind us, The NY 3rd...was that one of the NY congressional districts gerrymandered away from Dems? Any reason to think, if the seat became open, that Dems might win there? (Getting ahead of ourselves, I know.)

Jay stated in a prior letter that people in NY and other blue states never felt threatened by the abortion ban. So they didn’t feel the need to vote like many of us. I happen to believe this but wonder if they have understood the implications.

I worked in a lowly County position. Had I lied (any of the same lies) on my Civil Service Application, I would have been fired immediately.

Another grifter handpicked and financed by the Kremlin to grift the American people. When will the GOP prove they are actually for the American people and not foreign interests?

The Orange Jesus NFT trading card story was already getting a little boring except for the part where the MAGA cult is so strong they "sold out" almost immediately. This sorry GOP tale promises to be much more entertaining and long lasting. Thanks for the concise rundown.

“Whether Republicans have any appetite to bring down one of their own with such a narrow margin for their majority remains to be seen”

“Remains to be seen”?!! Such bullshit. Such wimping out.

Why are journalists and liberals so damn afraid to plainly call Republicans out on their shit?

The Republicans have spent decades making their utter lack of decency clear. That they won’t hold any of their own members accountable is not in doubt. You might as well say “Rain is falling but it whether it will be wet remains to be seen.”

The GOP is a political-crime-family with the fPOTUS the godfather. All they care about is winning. Not one of them cares about truth, justice or even America or if they do, like Liz Cheney, they get excommunicated. Santos fits right in. He (or she, MTG I'm sure) who can be bought will be used to hang onto power, levy revenge and rake in money from those foolish to believe them.
