Trump is nothing but negative energy and a vacuum that sucks all joy out of life…

Expand full comment

I’d like to think he’s going to lose for all the high-minded reasons, but I think a lot of people are going to vote against him because they’re simply tired of him. He’s exhausting, like any abuser.

Expand full comment

Nine years. Damned straight, we’re tired of it—time for him to land in the dustbin of history with the Joe McCarthys of the world.

Expand full comment

I’ve been tired of his ass since the 80’s.

Expand full comment

Me too.

Ahole.

Too bad major media didn’t report accurately on him in 2015. We could have had a real President.

Expand full comment

Also too bad NBC and that evangelical asshole producer of his shitty reality show legitimized him in the early 2000’s, along with twatter too.

Expand full comment

Ever so much this^^^ We knew it was out there. I felt like Cassandra, predicting the disaster that no one would listen to.

Expand full comment

Ditto!

Expand full comment

Yep, first time I was exposed to him I could see he was a jerk & a conman, & every subsequent time just reinforced that impression. I would never have expected he could even be considered for President, let alone become one.

And the hitlers, lenins, stalins, putins, rasputins, togos, judases, and others.

Expand full comment

"Have you no shame, Sir?" McCarthy didn't and Trump for sure hasn't either.

Expand full comment

And maybe the dustbin of a jail cell?

Expand full comment

lol I’d take up religion if it would help seal that deal 😼

Expand full comment

Hahaaaaa!!!

Expand full comment

In normal times, he wouldn't win one state. The only reason he'll win a few is because of the power of Fox and the rest of the right wing media to obfuscate his insanity, and the unwillingness of much of the mainstream media to treat him like the yugely unbalanced person he is. That second part seems to be slowly changing?

Expand full comment

I hope you're right about thay

that. Even Fox is now occasionally posting a story that's less than flattering about him.

Expand full comment

Are they still giving Pete Buttigieg a fairly regular appearance or have they learned their lesson?

Expand full comment

And the cheating threatened in red states

Expand full comment

I think it's more a promise than a threat.

Expand full comment

Not counting on any real changing. ALL LAME-STREAM MEDIA IS CORRUPT.

Expand full comment

And look at the way CNN has let him have free airtime to babble lies; NBC's Meet The (de)Press had the neo-Hitler on for Kristen Welker's first appearance.

They all pander and profit, no American MSM is free of responsibility for fostering this train wreck of a fascist clown.

There really is no "right wing media", it's all for profit. And for profit they will do a-n-y-t-h-i-n-g.

Expand full comment

Very similar to the choices made about entertainment television: despite the (accidental) appearance of so-called *socially progressive* themes, the SOLE determinant of content is PROFIT! Ask any show runner 😕

Expand full comment

I don't know if it is actually changing, as much as all the cancellation of subscriptions might be getting through. So the betrayer bosses might allow for some real reporting.

I would imagine those former followers are either going to vote against him or not vote at all.

Expand full comment

I think that’s a very limited, and incorrect, take on the election as it now stands.

I am HAPPY to vote for my former Senator and AG, as it will be my 5th time voting for her. I’m confident, having watched her for decades, that she will bring energy, intelligence, joy, and a sense of morality to the White House. Yes, I’m voting against Trump, but I’m also voting FOR a ticket that I’m proud of!

And given the dramatic shift in polling, and the rapid death of the “double haters” category of voter, I’m *far* from alone. I’m voting FOR Harris-Walz.

Expand full comment

The way the constant propaganda machine has brainwashed the former Republicans, they believe Dems really "want to destroy America", as ridiculous as it is- so they'd vote for a ticket with Jeffrey Dahmer and Charlie Manson over Kamala Harris.

I believe a Dahmer-Manson team would be preferable to Agolf Shitler, at least they'd be different than this refried grievance-baby.

Expand full comment

Exhausting; THAT’S IT!!!

Expand full comment

He is losing. He's not competent, smart, and rambles incoherently. It's nothing but lies and BS. He's unraveling more spectacularly than I thought was possible. He's scared. He is being publicly humiliated and the crowd numbers don’t lie! Trump is losing again and again!

This "Kamala removes stubborn orange stains" t-shirt is SO accurate 🤣 👇

http://libtees-2.creator-spring.com/listing/votek

Exciting to listen to Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. Everything about them exudes positivism, pride, optimism for America's future. On the other hand, Trump is invariably hateful, negative, cursing anything and everyone. America needs Kamala in the White house with Tim as VP.

81 days to go America to get rid of Agent Orange from our government and politics!

Expand full comment

Don’t get too confident. He’s still dangerous, and there are a lot of brainwashed MAGA/GQP/WCN Extremist Cult members out there.

Expand full comment

Yes, and a corrupt SCOTUS who will take his ridiculous claims of fraud seriously as an excuse to defy the will of the voters.

Expand full comment

Agree.

Especially with all of his crooked minions, who are planning to exploit 1 small Constitutional vagueness in order to not certify votes at the state level. Presumably, even if the results are overwhelmingly* in favor of Harris-Walz.

Marc Elias says bring’ em on; he’s confident he’ll repeat his 2020 election record. Elias helmed the legal efforts to win a massive 60+ case load of lawsuits (either defending election results or suing criminal MAGA manipulators) & won every case except 1 (which was a draw).

But I’m a worrywart, so there’s tension flogging me.

[*My spouse & I don’t respond to any calls (we silence unknown #s & report as spam), texts, emails, & snail-mailed surveys, nor any online surveys we stumble across.

And we’re presuming that most sane, educated people do the same.

I also add experience — gained through a temporary job at gold-standard pollster during job transition — that it’s usually the kind of people one imagines being at home during the daytime instead of working who will pick up unknown 800# calls. So that helps me stay calm among breathless reporting of polling’s apparant twists & turns.]

Expand full comment

I so agree. MAGA won’t budge from their support of him and the fascist rest of them (and Project 2025). They see in him the Hitler they’ve been longing for. And enthusiastic rallies for anyone don’t always translate to votes. But even this born pessimist sees something very hopeful in the enthusiasm, joy and deep relief people are expressing for Harris/Walz. And the Democrats are preparing for when the Republicans do another insurrection and/or refuse to ratify the votes.

Expand full comment

My husband’s MAGA family will all vote for him absolutely no matter what he says. Fucking nuts.

He's a Dementor right out of the Harry Potter books--but one who is crazy and senile!

But not as SMART as a Dementor!!!

Expand full comment

Exactly. He is also very dangerous in his role as candidate. Here is a video of History Prof. Thomas Zimmer talking to Democrats Abroad about Project 2025. It is worth listening to the full talk which is moderated to get a better sense of where we are historically in this election. The best part is the very end. https://youtu.be/IqpWMH5nkPw?si=MYJlfJ3dfAB8gT6z

Expand full comment

He’s a hot mess.

Expand full comment

Yes. They needed to smudge the Oval Office with sage after he left.

Expand full comment

I don't know if his coming undone is a good thing, or a bad thing. A cornered animal is the most dangerous. It's a good thing in that it helps us elect Harris, it's a bad thing in that they will try very very hard to steal this election. It's comforting that groups like Democracy Docket are getting ahead of the game, even the ABA is getting teams of lawyers together in swing state to protect election workers and voters on election day.

Expand full comment

I feel it is inevitable that he will try to undo the election should he lose. His freedom depends on it.

Expand full comment

Seriously, I think the issue is that his EGO depends upon it. He could lose his freedom -- election or not -- but he could STILL maintain that it is all UNFAIR!!!!

Expand full comment

He should go to prison but I don’t think he ever will, and I don’t think he’s afraid of that. I think he’s afraid of running out of national security secrets to sell and ending up in the trunk of a car.

Expand full comment

I urge all to read Joyce Vance’s latest Civil Discourse Substack. He’s not going to get away with stealing the election.

But, we must continue to work hard to get Harris/Walz elected by huge numbers. LFG 💪🏼💙

Expand full comment

I love Joyce Vance, and read her everyday!

Expand full comment

Yes, she’s a treasure and great balm for our spirits.

Expand full comment

As are her chickens. 😺

Expand full comment

We need to help Harris win by a mile, not just to prevent Trump from stealing the election, but because the bigger the victory, the more fun it will be.

Expand full comment

Hopefully, any court cases will proceed as they did last time: cases brought on mere hunches, without any verifiable examples of fraud, and the judges note the absence of evidence and toss the cases.

More pertinent this time around will be the possibility of some States refusing to certify their own results, possibly in the hope of neither candidate getting the 270 and it falling on the outgoing Congress to decide (which in itself would likely spawn mass protests).

Expand full comment

Fortunately the certification is not optional. They are mandated to certify, it's not up to them to decide one way or another. Courts will enforce the mandate and congress won't have to.

Expand full comment

Exactly. The law is very clear that states must certify election results, and it'd be helpful (for turnout purposes) if people would stop indicating otherwise.

I grew up in the Army - I polished my dad's brass and shoes. He retired a Captain in the Reserves and saw combat in Korea. Every time tRump opens his mouth about soldiers, sailors, airmen, etc. he insults them. Because he has no sense of personal honor, he cannot imagine how the recipients of his casual disregard lands on people. He is a complete and total, demented disgrace. He cannot toddle off this mortal coil soon enough for me.

Expand full comment

The fecking imbecile simply is blissfully ignorant of the impact of his words…”…full of bullets, or they’re dead…”. Yes, you flaming git, those who were the military and recipients of the CMH did so for heroism above and beyond the call of duty, including giving their lives.

Passing out his junky presidential medals because one is a yuuge cash contributor to the GOP and to tRump’s campaigns, or to a loudmouth right-wing shock jock is worth MORE than the CMH? In whose world is that the case?

This clip MUST be part of the Harris-Walz campaign material, and Hillbilly should be confronted with tRump’s remarks at every opportunity…and these subhuman lowlifes have the cheek to insult Tim Walz’s service record!

Expand full comment

Also, the NYT's Michael Gold was live-streaming his remarks yesterday re: Adelson, but ignored reporting on his Congressional Medal of Honor comments...however, today - after the Internets exploded - he ran a piece under his byline quoting tRump verbatim, and also did mention his years-long disparaging of military service people, and how yesterday's remarks are causing a yuuge backlash.

What I've noticed with the Times only recently, in their reporting of tRump's "rally" and "press conference" blatherings is that they let him off easily initially, then after other journalistic sites and social media go nutz savaging tRump's inanities, the paper comes in as well, a day late and a dollar short, as they say...shite rag.

Good point. They are also pretty mindless because they can't claim to be "Republican" and vote for these people. There's nothing at all conservative about them. It's like conservative columnist David French said in the NY Times: "To Save Conservatism From Itself, I Am Voting for Harris."

First, thank you for your service. I mean that sincerely, not just a platitude. My dear dad was a decorated, battle-scarred WWII US Army vet, who suffered injuries for the rest of his short life (died at 59). I understand exactly what you are saying, and I am enraged on your behalf for ALL veterans. Trump is a despicable ex-president -- and isn't that just crazy?? -- who says ignorant and hateful things about our self-sacrificing veterans. This time, he denigrated our veterans to butter up one of his mega-donors who received a Presidential Medal of Freedom for ... what?? He couldn't even say it.

And now we are pedos too!

These standard fallacies started

during the Nixon era and before that with McCarthyism.

And boy have they sticked. Stuck.

( Fun fact: tRmp’s mentor was Roy Cohn who was a young político in the McCarthy administration.)

All simplistic fallacies and outright lies. But deeply held beliefs by many.

Speaking from experience, growing up in a red area of Ohio— that shit runs deep.

It’s the kind of ignorance that is truly frightening.

And we’ve got to change this narrative.

Thus, we must recognize that as they evolve to protect their greed and ideology, we must never rest but keep evolving to keep them in check and keep constructing new mandalas constructed with the sands of compassion for all humans, all life and mother Gaia.

We may not always like the needed mandala but must strive to recognize facts and not become stuck into the quicksand of our belief systems.

This is not done until every voting place is safe from invaders, until the votes are counted, verified, and we have President Harris sworn in. It will take more effort and work than what we think and this is the time to crawl out of our comfort zones and dig deeper for the effort to make sure we get the outcome desired.
