Monday’s eleventh and final hearing of the January 6 Committee delivered a stinging condemnation of former president Trump, along with some historic criminal referrals.
One piece of evidence not mentioned indicating *trump's *desire* for violence was his alleged urging of Secret Service to remove metal detectors because "they're not here to hurt me." That clearly and emphatically reflects his state of mind at the outset of the insurrection. He wanted to attend a "wild," violent extravaganza, but when he was unable to attend, he did not want his personal reality TV show spoiled by any wet blanket "go home quietly" tweets.
Jay, you lay out a thorough examination of trump's legal liability for the insurrection, all aspects. Watching the Jan. 6 circus with my own eyes -- and carefully tracking the trump "plan" to subvert the election and peaceful transfer of power -- makes all of this just confirmation of the truth. Eventually, DOJ will catch up to the rest of us Americans re: trump's fundamental culpability and criminality. Trying hard to be patient, after more than 2 years of experiencing trump's evil scheme.
Having sat in courtrooms for 5 years as assistant to a circuit judge, I find the January 6th evidence overwhelming in favor of fPOTUS' guilt. He should be charged with the deaths of the police officers and even the insurrectionist who was killed. But being charged with trying the cause the death of our Democracy will at least prevent him from ever holding federal office.
Is the government and the entire country putting too much emphasis on the untouchability of someone who has served as president? Because anyone else with that level of classified document (never mind the number of them) in their possession would already be in jail. Anyone else who had acted in all these circumstances as he has acted would already be locked up. And every day he remains free, he does more damage.
If you find her credible, she clearly establishes that he wanted violence to occur. His directing the secret service to allow armed supporters to pass through the magnetometers also backs up her statements.
That is a question I also have. As far as I can find, the only US President that has ever been arrested is Ulysses S. Grant in 1872 for speeding in his horse and buggy. Grant was taken to the police station and was released on a $20 bond. And the Secret Service only started protecting former US Presidents after Congress authorized it in 1965. Like just about everything else that involves Trump, one can argue that we're in uncharted waters. Hopefully we'll find out. Let's just hope that, if he is indicted, arrested, tried and convicted, it's on a charge that prevents him from ever darkening the door of the White House or any other government office again.
All I can say is I have never liked the man, never watched The Apprentice and I consider him guilty as h&**, no matter what conclusions the DoJ or Jack Smith come to. I'll be glad when we aren't talking about him anymore. I'm very thankful that the whole J6 committee hearings have a paper trail so we have some history to NOT repeat.
I, too, watched the final Hearing of the January 6 Committee; & I may be mistaken, but I thought that when Ms. Hicks was questioned specifically as to who, exactly, she & Hogan Gidley were referring to as "he" in those texts, she stated "not Trump, himself - but Eric Hershmann" ... can you clarify who they were referring to ?
Hetschmann made himself known to the Public 'Audience' when he made that remark (to whom I can't quite remember ?) about : " I'm gonna give you the best free legal advice you'll ever get : Find yourself the best Lawyer - you're gonna need one !" ... which was played & replayed, over & over, in the News.
In view of the December 7th **attempted** plot to overthrow the German government (and to note that before it got out of hand, it was squashed, the suspects were arrested, and an investigation ensues) it was reported that this far-right German group were inspired by Q-Anon and other far-right American groups, therefore, suffice to say that what happened here on January 6th and the subsequent reports, investigations, etc, are in the forefront of the news throughout the world. How could something like this happen in America? How could it have gotten to that point? Why did the American government not see it coming and stop it before it reached the point of a violent, deadly attack on the Capitol? Surely there are departments in the American government that oversee any activity that may interfere with government? Why was it even allowed to get to that point? Was there no action on the intelligence gathered, warning of this violence? Surely there are those throughout the world, watching as though they're witnessing a trainwreck, asking these questions. And, like us, they're waiting for answers. THE WHOLE WORLD'S WATCHING.

Now let's see what the special prosecutor does with all the evidence.

Come on DOJ - do your job ...
Thanks for your hard work on breaking this down for us. Hope you're taking care of yourself.

As the saying goes, if you’re going to shoot the king, you’d better not miss.

Robert Reich has a 20-point list of TFG’s actions and inactions on his Substack page.
Thank you for the analysis. Very informative.
When Trump goes to prison, will he have Secret Service protection? Maybe Tony Donato?

She stumbled a bit here but the actual evidentiary question may have to be addressed at trial. Herschmann may have to testify.

He was talking to Eastman
P.S. - I mistyped Herschmann's name ....

JiveNJingle - well stated - lots of us have been grappling with the very same questions .
