He’s telling us who he is. We need to believe him. Convicted felon Trump wants revenge. Truth matters. Thx for sharing truth!

Every day, it seems, tRump is doubling down on his "revenge prosecutions" theme, despite useful idiots like Hannity trying to gently allow tRump to walk back the more flagrant and indefensible remarks. It leaves absolutely nothing to the imagination, and tRump is laying out precisely his top agenda items should he be elected.

Nobody in the MSM can possibly ignore, "both-sides", or "whatabout" that which this orange gangster wants to do as president...it's all there daily, in black and white, no "interpretation" needed. Heed his words, people, he's coming for us.

Just like Jesus said. “Get even.” “Never give a sucker an even break.” “An eye for an eye. And pluck his beard while you’re at it.” “Kindness, compassion? That’s for losers!” “Hate your enemies. And while you’re at it hate your friends, if you have any.”

Yup, MAGATs, your Messiah speaks the truth.

While generally when trump's mouth is moving he is lying, I don't believe it to be the case when he speaks of revenge. He feels he has been wronged, he will NEVER let that go. He was questionable (and I'm giving him a lot of grace here) in 2016, he was scary in 2020 and he's downright terrifying now.

"...generally when trump's mouth is moving he is lying..." One doesn't need to move their mouth to type lies in social media (although my guess is he does).

I think it's safe to assume that as long as trump is converting oxygen to carbon dioxide, he's lying.

Many an online psychiatrist has told us so, even against the stricture that they should not diagnose without a meeting with a patient. The fact that these mental health professionals are risking their positions by stating in public that Trump should never be President again tells us how grave the circumstances are. He is dangerous. And unhinged, and we just don't know what he will do next. He's said what he will do if elected, and it's horrific, but what if he doesn't get elected. Guessing so much worse.

I don’t have enough fingers and toes to count how many times I’ve read some version of this very sentiment. As correct as it is, never is there anything to accompany it that suggests a solution. With the exception of the ballot box. And who among us believes if he looses it will be accepted without chaos erupting? I am not saying that you Ashley should provide one, only that it is a repetition of what so many people, myself included feel. The brutal factual truth that is never uttered, is that there is really only one solution to deploy, and deploy it we must. I will use metaphor in the form of a quote to explain it:

“A fish rots from the head, cut off the head, the body withers and dies”.

I’m confident that all of us who engage in these discussions across several Substacks know what the fish represents.

I'm very frightened for our country now that so many citizens have embraced such negative and potentially violent beliefs. 'Getting Even' has somehow become the 'Greed is Good' of weak minded narcissists of current generations, neither of which has had any positive influence on our culture. Morals, empathy and the rule of law have been replaced by these simple but dangerous beliefs among far too many. It's so difficult not to lose hope in the face of such collective anger.

Jay, your writings generally give me hope for our world but today, not so much.

To defeat a threat, we have to understand it, and that often and understandably generates fear and anxiety. We must believe we can win and then set about doing it. Each of us can play a role on this larger stage.

Expand full comment

And when 'fear' has been infused in so many sources/styles of broadcast media,

those who consume at those spigots cease to know that their info is laced with fear, based on fear, and its actual program content is negligible in comparison with the fear, anxiety and dread now coursing through their mental systems. Simply an act of kindness toward a stranger who looks different can never be considered...

Richard,

I think we should start suing these mafia (media)outlets for terrorism. Our very own citizens are being threatened by lawless, terrifying thugs. Use their own tactics…. But make it hurt…. Take their money!!!!

Acting with that belief is what faith is. Patience is part of that process, and when an abundance of people talk over other people, there is much less listening taking place, with fewer people being heard, and an absence of discussion. Understanding is still nearby, waiting to be acknowledged - like truth prior to its discovery, it's always there.

Expand full comment

This is exactly the case, as it appears of late more often to me than not, that the first best solution to this current situation was either deliberately never deployed or squandered.

Jay, I have come to very much appreciate your perspective on this and other issues, I am working to make you one of my next paid subscriptions. You are among the many people who write pointedly and truthfully about what we are facing with this Fascist movement that has imbedded itself into our country. Today I want to ask you a question or two. Besides yours and others writings, which sadly are not seen by many whose minds need educated, what are we doing to really root out and crush this threat? How has it been allowed that a Fascist Christian Nationalist is the Speaker of the House of Representatives?

Somewhat ironically, it is the precarious House majority that the GOP holds that have emboldened and empowered extremists and make Speakers beholden to them. Our primary responsibility as members of the electorate in a democracy is to ensure that our parties are never held hostage like this. There are short term and long term fixes. The short term fix is to defeat them electorally, which I believe we will do with the House this November. That would reduce the threat significantly in the short term and could serve as a check upon the Senate or, heaven forbid, the White House should the GOP take it.

The long term fix is a systemic one. We need to put a halt to the gerrymandering that propels and then supports extremism by making real democratic elections something of a joke in many places. States such as Michigan and Wisconsin are leading the way here. We can all work within our own smaller communities to bring attention to this problem. In fact, it was one person with one very big idea who got the ball rolling in Michigan. Now there are fairer maps and a Democratic trifecta.

Expand full comment

Jay, I agree with the spirit of all that you have put forward here. However, it is a normal candidate, normal constituency, normal state legislature and normal state electoral process oversight perspective.  This is not the conditions we find ourselves. In addition, I find it difficult to imagine an executive that will in any way be checked by a democratically controlled House, should THIS GOP take control of it. The long term fix is incumbent on democratically controlled state legislatures. That unto itself will take time to flip.  In addition, we have a corrupt politicized Supreme Court with zero oversight.  To which there is nothing with any teeth in it that can take action to hold them to account.  I will conclude by quoting my son who was responding to this discussion from The Warning with Steve Schmidt I had sent him.

Anyone who knows their Bible would know that there is nothing we can do to hasten or hinder the end. That date (or the situation that triggers it) was decided a long time ago: Matthew 24:36. This is a war between forces we cannot see, but one side is much stronger than the other. This will be wrapped up when its purpose is served.

And the “end” is not everything ruined, but rescued from the Enemy. It will be a rough transition, true, but a beautiful outcome nevertheless.

The natural questions to ask are, how did this millenias-long war start, and why? And why hasn’t it been ended long before now? Rather than the knee-jerk reaction “You’re nuts, go away,” check it out. The fundamentalists get it very wrong, don’t judge it by their nonsense.
