LMAO at the turkey leg in the shoe. It might be a fun way to freak out the neighbors if I didn't have a privacy fence. Oh, well. Yoga Dog was AWESOME.

I was also struck by Ted Cruz's statement about how Democrats were going to riot in the streets, not realizing that we understand we have more power at the ballot box (at least as long as they don't regain power). It accurately represents the Republican lack of critical thinking skills, since they can't seem to wrap their heads around the fact we're not fooled by their fascist rhetoric.

But it's what they would do. That's all they understand.

Every accusation is a confession.

Absolutely. They are masters of projection.

Another great start to the weekend. ❤️. Much gratitude. ✌️

And now I’ll never be able to see another political poll without thinking “diarrhea forever.”

The Golden yoga dog and owl

made my day. Thanks. 👍

The owl was so cute, his little bird legs...

The owl made me howl!

hOWL!

Love the owl! But he needs the soundtrack of James Brown's "I Feel Good" after that squawk.

Too cute! I'm an owl addict.❤

It’s interesting that Cancun Ted thought that the Left would use Dobbs to sow violence, yet they brought it to the ballot box. And it’s the R candidate that is promoting violence.

Expand full comment

He never never tells the truth. He only speaks to manipulate his base. Since they are armed to the teeth and are dangerous and violent, they naturally havent noticed that dems are neither heavily armed, nor do we ever hold violent rallies. Cruz is smart and extremely evil. Went to the Darkside shortly after his birth. But he knows how to stoke hatred and encourage fear.

Fuck Ted Cruz!

Expand full comment

No one wants to get that close to him.

Expand full comment

And he’s not man enough to stand up to Trump, even though Trump insulted his wife. Shows what he thinks about women, too!

Expand full comment

And didnt rump accuse Cruz’s dad of assassinating JFK? Its astonishing.

Expand full comment

It sounds like something Trump would say. And that CC (Cancun Cruz) is just a R lackey boot licker.

Expand full comment

They accuse Dems of stuff that they do, have done, would do, or will do when they get the chance. They think just because it's what they would do, their opponents OBVIOUSLY would do it in a heartbeat. Projection as a philosophy of life. Every accusation is a confession.

Always a favorite part of the weekend!

Also, I believe the commonly accepted nomenclature for the Bird 🐦 website is "Xitter." 😀

Expand full comment

Agree 100% on "Xitter". A Xit is often infected, unsightly and full of something disgusting that explodes under pressure. Xits and Giggles. That's BullXit. What a Xitstorm. It's just really on-brand for Elon's Xithouse.

Expand full comment

I believe Jay arrived at that several months ago, but yes, with "X" pronounced as "sh" (as in Xi).

Expand full comment

I agree it has the advantage of brevity over mine, which is "X-crement", but I like the X-plicity of "X-crement" with no misunderstanding!

My favorite line from this week's Xeets and Giggles.

"The civil fraud trial of Donald Trump and his spawn in New York state court proceeded apace."

I really don't understand the lack of urgency on the part of Democratic leadership. We're racing toward a government shutdown, authoritarianism on the state level is both nakedly open and accelerating, the youth vote is falling off a cliff, Black turnout continues to fall, and Trump is normalizing Project 2025.

The fact that voters turned out to protect their freedoms in several states does not translate into support for Biden. What it does mean is that Independents and a small portion of Republicans will crossover to vote in local and state elections for reproductive rights and against extremist school boards.

If anyone is feeling complacent about 2024, they're in denial.

Why isn't Democratic leadership holding constant press conferences to show that Democrats are the only party supporting the military and point to Republican abdication by submitting to Tuberville's insanity?

Why hasn't Democratic leadership held constant press conferences to explain that abortion is just a stepping stone. The GOP is already moving the goal points to define life at conception, making IUDs illegal. There's also a well-funded movement to attack birth control pills as a form of abortion. Do people know how coordinated these movements are?

Biden appointed the most robust antitrust crusaders in 50 years as a step to combat income inequality, yet no Democratic leader mentions this work.

I could write a book about this political malpractice and unfounded complacency.

There's less than a year, and Biden's "happy warrior" optimism is landing badly...and I support him. Imagine how it lands with a base who've witnessed massive voter suppression laws, loss of abortion rights, challenging inflation, and wars they don't understand.

The legacy media is hostile to Democrats, so what? Work twice as hard to connect the dots for people. Explain what you've done for each group...don't rattle off pieces of legislation. Explain what a 2nd term with a Democratic trifecta will accomplish...saying "you'll finish the job" is a meaningless phrase. Embolden surrogates to flood local news stations to explain the Ukraine and Israel wars.

Again, I could write a book.

The state and local wins we saw reflect actions (possible only because of crossover votes against extremism) not broad support for Democrats.

I really hope someone in Democratic leadership wakes up soon.

Expand full comment

I think your issue is actually with the media, who don’t give oxygen to all that the Democrats are saying.

Expand full comment

No, the media hostility n/w/s, the Democrats don't have a consistent message and they haven't figured out ways to communicate to very different communities.

There's a year to fix this, but it requires a strategy, discipline, and execution.

Expand full comment

The white house does hold a daily press briefing.

Expand full comment

This is a communications tactic that reaches a tiny percentage of voters. In today's world where information is absorbed in fractured ways, you need an actual strategy.

Biden has recently chosen several opportunities to actively demonstrate his support for unions...this is effective.

He needs an army of high-profile surrogates who can reach discrete audiences on different platforms, on local television/radio, on college campuses, etc.

There needs to be constant repitition of the messaging...people are not paying attention, and right-wing framing unconsciously affects their perceptions. This has to be rebutted by equally aggressive counter-messaging.

It's Veteran's Day...most veterans have no idea what Tuberville is doing.

The Fox universe is shockingly under informed. It's a problem.

LOUDLY UNinformed. FIFY.

And that's a big part of how we have Youngkin (mostly powerless now) in VA. Democrats ran a horrible campaign in 2021. Or should I say failed to run a campaign.

Ditto DeSantis, ditto NY where a combination of malpractice and incompetence by the NY Democratic party led to a loss of the House majority and the election of the absurd Mayor Adams, whose currently under federal investigation.
