Just for Xeets and Giggles

There hasn’t been much reason to laugh or smile given the terror and war in Israel and Gaza and the paralysis of the U.S. government in the wake of Republican disarray. But humor finds its way in anyway, and for these small gifts we are grateful.

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) had some thoughts courtesy of the Kremlin.

You can always count on those Russian dissidents for dark humor.

Over in the House, it was utter chaos, which meant the Republicans were seeking to hold a successful conference. Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) was unintentionally funny as she scrambled to show her support for, well, whoever happened to winning the Speaker race at the time.

Maybe she should get a post ready for when the Democrats wind up having to lend their support to a new Speaker-designate?

It was clear that this was a cycle the GOP couldn’t figure out how to get out of.

Rinse… and repeat!

The circus in the House apparently meant the conference should send in the clowns. So here’s Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC), who decided to become a flamethrower instead of remain a moderating voice. Who’s gonna tell her what the A really stands for?

She tried to stay on message with inflation:

But someone came with receipts.

Rep. Harriet Hageman (R-WY) showed up to the vote carrying a lasso. Huh, I didn’t know you could lasso swine in a pen. Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) had thoughts.

Remember, the GOP traded Liz Cheney for her.

Speaking of George Santos, he really had quite the week. It started with a superseding indictment, adding all manner of federal charges including credit card fraud and identity theft.

George aka Kitara Ravache is starting to flip a wig under the pressure. There was this moment with someone else’s baby that no one can explain yet.

And then this unhinged rant against a Jewish peace protestor in the hall outside his office, which you just have to watch because I can’t really describe it properly.

We get it, George. You are Jew-ish.

Kari Lake of AZ made an expected announcement. Oooh, what could it be? Better tune in to find out!

Swalwell, again with a clean three-pointer.

They say that karma can really come back to trip you up, and this was a great example. It’s okay to watch and laugh; he wasn’t hurt.
