Wow it's these far and seamingly few positive moments that gives US hope! It's sad to know answers but for me not to understand WHY....Why do the Republicans get to run constant misinformation from TV channels over and over without Anyone being able to counter on THEIR Station's?? That's how it use to be or these TV channels calling themselves REAL News πŸ“° must run it like it is without ALL conspiracy political BS...WHY don't they have RULES..if it's just Entertainment in such Evil and negative way's... why can't they just be forced to Label 🏷️ OPINION only not real News... it's crippling our democracy and Lies to real gullible innocent people... it's WRONG... Looking up Judge Chutkin, it lists the judge being appointed by President Obama. What am I missing? Thanks.

Yes, my bad. There’s another judge I have been watching who is insisting on higher sentences than asked for, and she is the one appointed by Trump, not Chutkin. This has been corrected.

Thank you for another great piece! I know this is off topic, but wondering if you have any take on Durham’s investigation and now the two arrests. So far, the only take I read is they maybe lied and sounds like β€œhe said, she said”.. I know you may not have time but your explanations make sense to me. Again, thank you!

I haven’t spent much time looking at Durham, as I’ve seen it as a something of a distraction and holdover. I’ll try and take a look.

The interview of Peter Strzok on MSNBC is probably closest to how I feel about Durham. The special counsel appointed by Barr is a non-serious man with serious authority who is using that to try and throw red meat to the base on an issue that is peripheral. I say peripheral because the Mueller report didn’t rely upon the Steele Dossier in any way, so this is an attempt to discredit Mueller after the fact in a way unrelated to his investigation. Also, it’s a way to try and show the Democrats were just as bad as the Republicans when it comes to criminality, though the best he has is two instances of what may turn out to be innocuous misstatements to the FBI. This is a special counsel in search of a scandal, much like Benghazi was for the GOP committees, and they’re hoping to create a Hillary email level scandal out of it. The less oxygen we give it, the better I saw. Here’s a link to the interview: https://twitter.com/neojane8/status/1456453200417075201?s=21

Thank you so much!!! This is what I thought, but I sometimes don’t trust my own comprehension when people throw out bait… I have a tendency to stop, but I’m trying to learn to push back like you do!! Thank you as always! So looking forward to the chat tomorrow!!

Thank you for responding that’s what I was thinking too but it keeps making the headlines. And I know a few people who would have to bring it up in a conversation.

What do you think the chances are of the DOJ's lawsuit in Texas prevailing given the US Supreme Court's various rulings that have weakened the Voting Rights Acts?

Expand full comment

It will depend on how replete the record is with any evidence of intentional discrimination and what the facts show about disparate impact on racial minorities, for example. I’m pretty sure a SCOTUS that isn’t interested in upholding Section 2 any more can find a way to say Texas’s law is fine as is, sadly.

Very nice.
