In lieu of my usual Sunday look ahead, and because I’m slammed today preparing my annual Friendsgiving feast, just a quick personal note today.
For those of you who’ve read MA IN ALL CAPS, you know that there’s news in the final chapter of a highly personal nature, which I’ll be talking about in the coming month because it could impact my ability to work. There are some things, like this, that I felt odd talking about publicly, but since this was a big part of my last year with Ma, it’s in the book. And though I knew it would be public knowledge as soon as I published, it’s still a bit challenging being in the fishbowl.
The news also helps explain why the last 12 months have been so incredibly tough emotionally, beyond losing Ma and Hudson. But I have an incredible support network and the love and lots of offers of help from family, and I am hopeful for the future. (Again, more on that in a month or so when I have more news.)
If you’re in the know because you’ve read to the end, please no spoilers for others in the comments or online! And if you haven’t picked up your copy of MA IN ALL CAPS, it’s now available on Kindle, paperback and hard cover. Click the button below to get your copy. Makes a great holiday gift, too!
Thanks also for all the amazing 5-star reviews and kind comments online about my work. It’s one thing to put daily analysis of law and politics out there. It’s entirely another to open your life, and your family’s life, up for the world to take a peek. Oh, and yes, an audio book is coming out! My brother Kaiser, who is an experienced podcaster and documentary narrator, is doing a fantastic job with it. He’s got Ma’s voice and character down really well, as we expected he would.
This is going to be a somewhat light week on The Status Kuo due to the holidays. I’m spending mine down in North Carolina with family and extended family. I hope your holidays are fulfilling and that you find yourself surrounded by love, as I so often have in these emotionally trying and demanding times.
May you feel valued, may you be well,
Jay
I’m thoroughly enjoying your book through my Kindle app. I will confess to skipping to the ending because I couldn’t savor what I was reading wondering about the end soooo...I skipped to the end and read it. 🤫
Now I can enjoy the rest of the book at a leisurely pace. (Yes, I’ve been known to peek at wrapped gifts, too.) I am unrepentant but I can keep a secret...just not from myself. 🤷♀️
Jay, please know that you have a Helluva Support Group out here and that we are here for you however, whenever, and wherever you need us.
