Fox News hosts suggested over the weekend that the emergence of the Omicron variant was intentional in order to spare Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg from doing his job. I keep thinking isn't the standard for the first amendment that you do not have the right to yell fire into a packed movie theater when you know there isn't a fire because people can get hurt and if they do you are responsible if you knew it wasn't true in the first place? Fox news has been killing people every day of this entire situation. Why is that not really being addressed?

The typical Democratic response to the GOP's usual outrage, lying, and idiocy is usually silence - "don't elevate it by responding." The problem is, that simply doesn't work any longer (if it really ever did). The party itself - and its elected officials - have to be aggressive trolls to combat this. I.e., there should be a always ready talking point, when asked (or not), something like: "serious and smart people know that for what it is - dangerous, lying idiocy - at a time when there's no time for this. Not when there are still people prone to believing it, who won't get vaccinated, who are getting sick, and dying because they believe those kinds of lies."
Call this crap for what it is: its LIES. Damaging and dangerous lies.
