When someone tells a 'joke' and only racists laugh, it's not funny. It's just racism.

If my incredibly sheltered snow-white ass can learn that before I hit high school, there's no excuse for these people. The lack of humanity is appalling.

My introduction to this clip was actually through a clip of AOC and Coach Walz watching it together on Twitch. I watched with my mouth hanging open while the Coach, who is so normal and so much like people we talk to everyday, actually said this to AOC after hearing him: "Who is this jackwad?"

For the past two months tRump has been campaigning to solidify his ceiling, not adding "undecided" or "moderate", or whoever. He's simply rewarding that mass of lumpen-proletariat who have cast their lot with him, and assuring them that he remains who they believe he is, and not someone who will go off pandering to other voting constituencies that "the base" despises.

Now, whether this ceiling is high enough to win the EC, the tRump campaign is going all in that indeed it is. It's up to the rest of us to prove them wrong bigly, and give the Harris-Walz ticket enough of a popular edge to carry a majority - even 270 EV - to win...it's imminently doable - if we vote, we win, that simple.

Expand full comment

Remember, he said that him and Mike Johnson have a secret that he will reveal after the vote. I think that it can be not certifying the votes but from my understanding we have the best attorneys fighting for us and there is no logical way for republicans to win.

Expand full comment

Because the new Congress is sworn in a few days before the electoral votes are counted, then if we can flip the House, any plans will definitely have a wrench thrown in. But I do wonder what they have up their sleeves. Trump doesn't seem to care about getting the most votes.

Expand full comment

I agree that he seems so sure of a win although he alienates everyone but his base. But from my understanding they have no legal standing. Beyond that, my imagination runs wild.

I read a very long thread today from a Puerto Ricana and she tells the history of PR we've never been taught. They don't want to be a state, but rather to finally be free. After reading the history lesson she posted on 🧵, I totally understand.

They should have independence or statehood, as they choose. No more second-class territorial status.

If Trump were to return to power, independence looks a lot more attractive! But if he and his movement fail, as they should, I hope puertorriqueños will adhere to America. We are better with them.

Expand full comment

Some want to be a state and some do not. Not everyone wants the same thing.

Hawaii had that same split before statehood, as "independence" and return of native Hawaiian sovereignty did have a constituency...obviously not the majority, both inside and outside the territory, however.

Here’s the thing: unless you are 100% Native American, your ancestors were IMMIGRANTS. What gives anyone the right to disparage those doing just what my Danish grandparents did by seeking a better life here? Would I want them to have immigrated legally, as my grandparents and great-grandparents did? Yes. But I am not so short-sighted like MAGA as to see the impact they have on our country. This is why I am voting blue down the ticket.

She came illegally and was working here, trump got her a lawyer who found the visa loophole.

Nicknamed the "Einstein Visa", the EB-1 is in theory reserved for people who are highly acclaimed in their field - the government cites Pulitzer, Oscar, and Olympic winners as examples - as well as respected academic researchers and multinational executives.

"Mrs Trump began applying for the visa in 2000, when she was Melania Knauss, a Slovenian model working in New York and dating Donald Trump. She was approved in 2001, one of just five people from Slovenia to win the coveted visa that year, according to the Post".

Puerto Ricans didn’t immigrate to become a US “Possession.” They’re more like Hawaii’s citizens.

"On October 18, 1898, American troops fighting in the Spanish-American War raised the United States flag in Puerto Rico formalizing U.S. control of the former Spanish colony."

The US took over the island and they became citizens.

Just like in the American West: California, New Mexico, Colorado — and more — from the so-called Mexican-American War, which the Mexicans I met called La Invasión Norteamericana.

Thank you Jay for following social media and watching news so we don't have to as its makes us sick. I was up at 3:30 am this morning reading Joyce Vance's Civil Discourse, then Robert Hubbell's Today's Edition about the MSG rally. I went right over to Act Blue Express to donate yet again to Harris Victory Fund and various Senate and House candidates I've supported with recurring donations. I'm thinking this could be a big day for fundraising for the Harris-Walz campaign. From Robert Hubbell I learned that people who are coming to Pennsylvania from out of state to canvas need places to stay. You can check this out: https://substack.com/inbox/post/150828858. At this point we have to admit they are not trying to win the election outright. They are going to try and steal it, and we better be ready for it. The treason weasel also said he has a secret plan with Speaker Johnson, that he will only reveal after the election. Anyone want to guess what that plan is?

Remember the president of the Heritage Foundation said "we are in the middle of the second american revolution. Which will remain bloodless - as long as the left allows it to be."

I'm willing to bet that they won't see Harris being elected President as the left "allowing" them to have their "revolution."

In 1974 Ohio had an open Senate seat. The odds-on favorite to win the GOP nomination was incumbent Gov. James Rhodes. Then the Kent State shooting happened on May 4. The Ohio primary was the next day, and Rhodes was defeated. The public can and will turn quickly. Yes, some early votes have been cast, but the vast majority of votes are yet to occur, and Harris has a full week - not just one day - and the internet (which did not exist in 1974) to exploit this.

Expand full comment

It depends, in some states more than half the likely ballots have already been cast. But early voters are generally the ones who would never switch. Anybody who at any level is not sure usually waits till late.

The Kent State shooting (and murder) was in 1970, not 1974. But your point is well taken.

You know, every time tRump or his MAGA fellow travelers blatantly and unapologetically attack racial, ethnic, or LGBQT minorities, we all say, "That's it, he/they have REALLY crossed the line, and THIS time they are going to pay for it.

And each time, the media feature it for a day or so, the electorate absorbs this stuff, and we all - stop me if you heard this before - "move on".

And it will be the same with the MSG fascistic extravaganza...yeah, shitty people, but man, $6/doz for eggs?

Hate to be so cynical, but in normal times, this "rally" display would have sunk a politician's campaign; however, since coming down the trashy golden escalator 9 years ago, tRump has completely redrawn what's acceptable and what clearly is not, to this country's everlasting shame. tRump has shown indisputably that there is NO floor beneath which he would sink, for the very simple reason that it hasn't cost him, full stop. Now whether a last-minute traducing and insulting of Puerto Ricans would make any sort of "game-changing" difference is problematic, IMO, for the reasons I listed above. Yes, admittedly I could be wrong, but Occam's razor suggests it's same as it ever was, end of story.

$2.99 Large eggs - Florida Trader Joe’s

Expand full comment

The thing is there isn't much time left to move on. You are right, and Trump's worst things usually fade after a couple weeks. But this happened 9 days before the end. There is no time to fade, and any undecided or switchable voter who was irate about this event can vote now, before the anger has any chance to fade. So for us, the timing was perfect.

Expand full comment

Who is paying $6/doz for eggs? What brand of eggs are $6/doz? Where in the continental U.S.? I'm just curious?!

The rest of your post I agree with, unfortunately. At this point, I think humans have a worse attention span than that of a gnat. And so many of our fellow citizens have decided to forego any ethics, morality, values, etc. that they may have had before is... appalling to this old gal.

I buy organic free range pastures eggs from rare breed hens for $6 per dozen. I love hens.

Expand full comment

May I ask what state/area? Which breed of hens?

I'm not doubting that some people, are by choice, purchasing organic free range pasture eggs for that price or even more - but it is a choice. And no doubt in my mind that those eggs have beautiful yellow yolks like those of my childhood and taste far superior to those bought in a grocery store (chain or local). I still remember the taste and mouth feel of whole milk from the 50s, and the dairyman delivering to the door along with beautiful eggs.

As for now, as a senior single on fixed income, I'll continue to buy the best I can buy from local store with my limited means. But, again, I've never seen $6/doz in our local/chain stores here. :)

Expand full comment

Actually, there are $5.99 eggs here in SW Ohio but they are specialty eggs like free range and/or organic. You can buy regular eggs for much less.

Expand full comment

California. Bay Area. We could also pay double that for a fancy dozen. Cage free extra large etc. but yeah, egg prices are about as crazy as gas prices here now (over $5/gallon even at the cheap places).

Expand full comment

Bay Area...nuff said.

Recently crossed the country, driving (OR to GA), and gas prices ran from below 3$ per gal. to a bit over that, until hitting the east coast. It's a state to state thing.

Expand full comment

OK, $6 eggs is a metonym for the "Biden" economy, that nebulous entity that embraces high consumer prices, high housing costs, high utility costs, etc., etc., & etc., and which has proven a winner for tRump, and a loser for Biden and then Harris. Capisce?

Expand full comment

No, I get that it is a metonym. But I hear that all the time from trump supporters, even from my ultra-proud-maga brothers who live in the same city as I do. (I'm the black sheep of the family for a lot of reasons that don't fit their white Jesus mentality.) I digress - even my own brothers are spouting $6 eggs, and gas prices so high they can't afford to go to work. Really? Well, sell your high $ truck for something more efficient in a heavily trafficked city. Tell me where lil brother are you buying $6/doz eggs because I watch prices like a hawk and most I've ever paid for eggs was during the height of pandemic and the height of bird flu because well... supply/demand but eggs were never $6/doz. here in any area of Houston Tx even the la-te-da frufru stores.

So, yeah, I was just wondering. I know prices of eggs, etc are way more exp in places like Alaska and Hawaii but where else?!

Thanks, Lance.
