What happened to those women is absolutely unconscionable. It clearly illustrates what can happen when the rule of law no longer prevails. It is precisely why our ancestors fought a revolution against a king and a system that allowed this very thing to happen - private citizens persecuted and often killed who did nothing wrong at all, solely to further a sick despot's political or financial or delusional corruption. Everyone who values a free society should be outraged by this. Our forefathers would be turning over in their graves. There is not enough money in the world to give back to these women the security and peace of mind stolen from them. My heart goes out to them. And if there is any real justice in this world, Trump and Giuliani will never see the light of day again.
Thank you, Mel. Well said. My heart aches for them. I think this was one of the most heinous parts of their selfish, evil plan. But even more so, this horrible and evil action is a catalyst for good to come from the hearts of many conscious citizens to show up and vote and fight for all that is right and good, to fight for our Democracy. But we shouldn’t have to witness such things to have a fire in the belly for righteousness. I hope we (Americans) are really at a turning point, ready to demand integrity at every level of our government. 💙
The attacks on Ruby Freeman and her daughter Shaye Moss were of a piece, wholesale and vicious race-based slandering of Black poll-workers in heavily Black urban centers: Atlanta, Philadelphia, Detroit, Milwaukee, etc., during and following election tabulations in November, 2020. Freeman and Moss were particularly signaled out, as examples of "nefarious" election staff working to "steal" the election from tRump, because that's what Black people do to help the "Democrat Party".
Well, the worm has turned, and legal consequences will follow, directed against the lying, criminal swine working for tRump, and against El Gordo himself. Justice is nigh, and the miscreants will pay.
As an 83 year old white male who grew up in racist southern West Virginia, I wept during the testimony of Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss during the January 6th hearings. I knew then that no amount of money could ever return them to the sense of security and their good reputations that they had before then President Trump's attacks on them. My heart still breaks for them. And their unfailing declaration of innocence and unwillingness to wilt under tremendous pressure makes them American heros.
Roy, I wept as well. Their lives will never be the same. I am in AZ and pretty active in my legislative district. I have never been a fan of Rusty Bowers and have left messages on his AZ capital voicemail to let him know when he did wrong over the years. BUT! I truly felt for him and the wrath he incurred by telling the truth and not going along with “the plan.” As a result, he became a pariah among his peers, people he thought were his friends, and awful people yelled horrible things to him outside of his home, all while his daughter was dying! Who does that?! Awful people in a cult of evil. I really hope this is truly the summer of justice, as Jay says.
For that alone - for what Grump, Guiliani, and their entire rotten gang did to these two women - I wish we could bring back drawing and quartering. I am actually a very mild, non-violent person, I am all for second chances, benefit of the doubt, and presumption of innocence. However, THIS lot? There isn't a bad thing I haven't wished upon them.
I think it’s healthy to vent what we are feeling inside. It allows us to see the demons that are within all of us, and to even have compassion for those whose demons have been hijacked by manipulative leaders on the right, whether political or religious.
Whatever good karma I may have accumulated in my almost 7 decades in this world has been ruined since Trump and his cadre of evil loonies appeared on the scene.
I am a witch. Thoughts are things is part of our philosophy, along with "harm none". To think badly of someone is to harm them. And if that scum gets what they deserve, I don't care if I reincarnate as a garden slug.
Honestly? I can't. Even cockroaches and mosquitoes have their place in the eco system. Even they have some use and serve some purpose. This lot? I don't know.
I hope Ms. Willis has evidence to directly link Trump to this scheme. He was no doubt behind every bit of it. Ms. Freeman and Moss should have sued Trump, too. Maybe they will next?
We simply don’t know how closely tied Trump was to all of the things that went down. But I sense that their story is tied up with his crimes in some way.
Well, we do know that he mentioned them in his Georgia phone call numerous times (18 I believe) and has continued to name and defame them for years now. He is responsible for siccing his mad dogs on them and putting their lives at risk.
“Do you know how it feels to have the president of the United States target you?” when she said this during the J6 hearings it chilled me. He was the president, he targeted private citizens, he whipped up his base to do God knows what to them. And it still chills me to know he's still the GOP front runner. I hope they are successful in getting the verdicts they deserve against everyone involved, including tRump
What these poor women have been put through is simply unfathomable. Worse yet, the once and (horrifying as this is to contemplate) possibly future President has continued to target them. Giuliani may be throwing in the towel (because there really is no defense on his part), but his former boss certainly is not. Heaven help them--and us all--if he regains the Presidency.
The continued harassment of Ruby and Shaye ,in my opinion, is one of the worst things these asshat douche bags have done ! To ruin people's reputations and lives because you are a big whiner and can not accept the fact you lost the election is unconscionable!
Freeman and Moss are national heroes and should be protected and supported to whatever extent the federal government can do that. Glad they have DA Willis on their side!
Ms Freeman and Ms Moss deserve to receive the Presidential Medal of Honor/Freedom, for all they have gone thru & done to protect the freedom of a fair election. They have been on the front line in this war for our Democracy, wear the battle scars of this fight and are still fighting for the soul of this nation.
It broke my heart when Freeman testified “Do you know how it feels to have the president of the United States target you?”. I hope Giuliani spills all the dirt on tRump!
Just one more rich, older white guy thinking he can say and do whatever he wants to the "little people". Let's all hold him accountable. it's truly disgusting.
Hope justice prevails in this freedom obsessed over civility democracy, never to be trampled by minority mobs ridiculing at will, intimidating for power.....erasing years of progress back to 1870 interpretation of wild west rustling. Need we repeat the cattle and sheep wars agaim?
What these poor women have had to indure and continue to have to endure is reprehensible. They absolutely need their reputation back and compensation for their loses and emotional pain and suffering and safety.
What happened to Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss is reprehensible, unforgivable and unremediable; what arrogant sociopathy one must have to cavalierly toy with someone's life, treat a person like a throwaway Allen wrench in an election-stealing kit. This heinous behavior is the most inhumane and horrid of the lot. Too bad these heartless empathy-less boors could not be made to feel the same degree of terror and hopelessness.
Remember the tRump family treated their oldest son (Mary Trump’s dad) like this, basically discarding him and ignoring him when he didn’t bow to the dad’s demands. To the point that they sent this son - alone - by ambulance to a hospital they did not have a relationship with (a different hospital had received large donations, and the family alway went there by choice), to die - again, alone - after basically drinking himself to death in his parent’s home. tRump and sister went to a movie. No one informed Mary’s family he had been hospitalized. As a nuclear family, they apparently have a total lack of compassion, empathy, or conscience. At least to the casual observer. (If you haven’t already read it, highly recommend Mary Trump’s “Too Much and Never Enough.”)

It chilled me as well. I still think about it.
So do I!!
Pam - You are so right that what he did to two innocent women, stoking his "mob followers" to threaten/do violence is chilling. Have you seen articles on the Agenda 47 plan he has in mind, when he "thinks" he will again be President? Here are two links to check it out, it will be a dictator in control.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_I0y0I1QLDc&t=105s. and. https://www.yahoo.com/news/very-afraid-trumps-agenda-47-093001633.html

We must do all we can to prevent that.
Indeed, we absolutely must.

It sickens me what happened to these women. Thanks for shining a light on what happened. I hope Trump and others get what they deserve
