I was thinking democrats should go on Fox News and challenge them on their statements that Jack Smith should get the death penalty and also try to challenge the idea that people who were assigned to work for Jack Smith should be fired for that reason only, because that is the exact "weaponization of the government" they have been screaming about. I wonder if we could make people question whether there should be politically-motivated retribution against people for doing things which are perfectly legal and constitutional. They should also be challenged on Trump's threats to shut down MSNBC or other media outlets just because he doesn't like them, not because they have done anything illegal. Isn't that an ultimate weaponization of the government and isn't that a completely Un-American idea? Does anyone think this might help get more people to reject political persecution under Trump?
I appreciate your kind and knowledgable writings! You have been a steady voice in this shocking and grief-stricken time. Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family -- all species!
We all need each other to get through the struggles of the next administration. Your writing gives us hope and something to focus on during the dark days ahead. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
I’m very much looking forward to this as I spent a bit of time yesterday understanding the USMCA after I saw his SM post on these tariffs as well as news reports.
You rock, Jay!!! You bring sanity to my overloaded brain and keep me calm. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your beautiful daughter and your family and friends 🙂
It’s not so much breach of contract in the traditional sense as it is a trade agreement violation that can proceed by resolution under the terms of that agreement.
It sounds to me like these "tariffs" on our trading partners are thrown out there by trump in advance of his taking office because he has no idea how to deal with the "immigration crisis" he manufactured as a campaign issue and this ploy will get him some big attention and input (suggestions and retaliation) from Mexico and Canada. Unfortunately, they and the rest of the world are realizing that living in a different country doesn't provide much protection from trump's capricious, whimsical bomb-throwing tantrums.
I would suggest everyone read the letter the new president of Mexico wrote Trump (today), responding to his promised 25% tariff on Mexican exports. It's tough, very critical of his invented rationale and promises a counter tariff on US exports, should he actually impose one on Mexico. Before taking it to the mailbox, she released it to the media. Nothing yet from Canada.
Someone may have told him the two countries are America's largest trading partners, but given he believes the exporting country pays the tariff, not relevant.
I’m particularly interested in the ‘conditions attached’. He attached conditions for American business to get out of the tariffs he imposed the last time he was Prez. (Not really reported on and rarely mentioned by legacy media) Wonder what he has up his sleeve this time.

You missed my frustration, as of late you have plugged your Big Picture piece on Status Kuo on days you are writing for Big Picture. I would rather not open the Status Kuo piece to be told to tune in latter to Big Picture.
On November 5, Americans chose:
Lies over truth,
Ignorance over knowledge,
Chaos over order,
Malice over good will,
Division over unity,
Cowardice over courage,
Sleaze over character,
The criminal over the law,
And billionaires over ordinary people.
Proud to be a liberal woman, more than ever! Proud to wear this totally unhinged radical liberal t-shirt in front of Republicans 👇

It’s a tough job to go on Fox but perhaps the more skilled communicators could do it.
Mayor Pete!
Jack Smith should get the death penalty? I hadn't heard that one. He's truly unhinged, we we've known for way too long
I hadn't heard this either.
We appreciate you sharing your wisdom, and your family, with us. Happy Thanksgiving!
He is isolating us. Classic domestic abuser tactic.

Can Canada and Mexico sue him for breach of contract for violating the USMCA that HE insisted on?

I think they figured that out last time…
Happy Thanksgiving, Jay, to you, Riley, and your family. Thank you for your consistent calm words and insights. It's appreciated more than ever.
