So, can these laws be used 'against' them? Can a black student say they're made uncomfortable by a history lesson that says that the slave owners cared for their slaves like their own family? Can an Asian American student say they're uncomfortable by not including the history of the camps their parents/grandparents were in during WWII?
I was going to ask the same thing. It would also force these states to admit that their laws are clearly intended only for white children and their parents, which would cause a severe backlash, which is well deserved. I am disgusted by this blatant, ignorant racism. I'm wondering how many of these parents have blown off parent teacher conferences, never attended a PTA or a school board meeting? I also wonder how many of them have ever been in their child's classroom let alone volunteer to help out? The hypocrisy is outstanding.
Legislation like this is the antithesis of what education is about. It serves no one to suppress the truth about our history. For critical race theory it's a solution in search of a problem.
This will be combatted - and the folks creating this garbage will be shamed - by both teachers, parents, and especially students. Wait until high school kids start a Banned Book Club and groups on Facebook, and aren't allowed to bring a book on school property...the bad press will magnify. Embarrasing videos on Tik Tok. Someone will need to track how teaching jobs aren't being fulfilled, how many teachers are quitting....

This should be worrisome for everyone.

Since public schools are paid for by the government don't 1st Amendment rules apply? The government isn't allowed to censor books.
