The Horsemen of the Trumpocalypse

Today I’m writing for our sister publication, The Big Picture, with a piece out later this afternoon.

It’s often said that the media doesn’t focus enough on the stakes of the election, and is often too focused on the horserace itself. That’s why at The Big Picture, we try to zoom out and cover those stakes, too.

On Tuesday, writer Todd Beeton laid out what Kamala Harris administration would look like with its many exciting prospects for a prosperous, more inclusive future for all Americans.

Today, I am doing the flip-side, discussing key figures in Trump world who have been promised, or are lobbying or up for, key positions in a second Trump term. I am doing this not to scare readers, though we should all be deeply concerned and vigilant. Rather, I believe that the best way to fight against creeping authoritarianism and democratic collapse is to remain clear-eyed and informed about the dangers and who specifically is behind them. That is how we defeat the fascist threat.

We can’t ever know how things will turn out, but we can do all that is possible to make a positive outcome more likely.
