I am continuously amazed at the callus cruelty with which Americans treat their Veterans. The country of forever wars and mind boggling profits to the military industrial complex, abuses the citizens who signed up for those wars with endless delays and bureaucracy to get covered for ‘service related’ injuries. What could be so hard with just making lifetime health benefits part of the bargain? Maybe equivalent health benefits to congresscritters who risk life and limb in cloakroom skirmishes?

What kind of country is this? Oh wait, America. Exceptional. Cruel.

Thanks for your coverage of this amazingly unnecessary drama and the willingness of Republicans to cause harm.

"Minority Leader Mitch McConnell was tight-lipped..." Ha ha ha, good one.

Welp, none of the GOP's moves surprise me, unfortunately, especially after Turtle McConnell stated at the beginning of the Biden Administration that he would oppose anything the democrats attempted to do.

What bothers me most about this one is the fact that they took their shenanigans way too far this time, and I hope their decisions are reflected in the November elections, and they lose in very big ways. 🤞fingers crossed.

While watching random channels last night, I counted how many Veteran's organizations were asking for $$ to help with EVERYTHING they have been left with, after serving on OUR behalf. I've donated to many, my family is/was full of vets. But it dawned on me that WE have to support their needs, & GLADLY! But WHY, do other countries depend on it's citizens to fund the care of it's war heros?

BTW, I counted 14 ads in a little over an hour, while watching 2-3 channels.

ONE HOUR, 14 ads, desperately begging for funding. Some may be questionable to how our $$ is used, but what is lacking in government agencies?

My son in law works at the VA, I took my uncle there for 6 years. They've gotten 100% better than 2-3 years ago.

But more STILL needs to be done.

“...but should the budget bill actually pass before recess, [McConnell] will look even more ineffectual and weak in the eyes of his fellow senators.”

McConnell ineffectual and weak is a condition fervently to be hoped for.

I had not seen the detail that the spending provision (mandatory vs discretionary) _did not change_ between the two versions of the bill, in any other reporting besides this newsletter. Thank you for calling out the GOP on the absolute falsehood of their statements. Of course we already knew that McConnell and his pack act in bad faith -- just one more example, unfortunately.
