It's weird. It's almost like electing a delusional narcissist with a decade's long history of dishonesty and incompetence was a bad idea.

Charles Bastille's avatar

Twice. That's the real crazy part. It's not like this second time around 77 million people didn't know what they were voting for.

Jane in NC's avatar

I still can't over the twice part. It's like 77 million people got amnesia about the disastrous first Trump term, which ended in an assault on our Capitol. WTAH??

I’ve been thinking a lot about this. I remember people who voted for him often said “well, he’s one of us!” Does everyone think like this? I may have a PhD but know nothing about economics or international affairs - why would I want someone as stupid as I am running the country? Why did the Senate think that Hegseth’s lack of experience was an advantage? (Yes - one Senator actually said this!)

Trump has NEVER been 'one of them'. Not ever. He wouldn't let the average Trump voter darken the doorway of his golf motel in Palm Beach. Nobody has more disdain for MAGA voters than the head MAGA himself. Why people have never figured that out is one of this political era's great mysteries. His voters are a delusional cult.

Elected Rs rubber stamp everything Dull Donnie wants because they don't want to get sideways with MAGA world. Why? Because they've prioritized their political careers over the good of the country. They're despicable.

One of us? A demented conman?

Charles Bastille's avatar

Right? Also, a few people died from a little pandemic he let loose.

Jane in NC's avatar

When his galaxy brain advice was to swallow horse medicine, inject bleach and put a UV light up your ass. Where were these people when all of that was going on????

Charles Bastille's avatar

Apparently getting their bleach treatments.

Your post makes me think of Sarah Conner’s UTube video.

Assault? That was a peaceful protest, unlike the Demoncrats /SARCASM

Trump’s planning on throwing one of his “advisors” under the bus for bad “advice” regarding the decision to start the war…please God, make it Hegseth!

Jane in NC's avatar

Does it have to be just one?

Allen's avatar

I’d really like it to be Miller as well, really really like it, but Trump didn’t include him on the list.

Jane in NC's avatar

OMG, YES!! I'll never ask for another thing, Santa!!!

Aren’t there any more women to fire? That would fit his pattern better?

I have a theory: trump's being a man of very little brain, I think the term "simpleton" fits him best. He mistakes his brain farts for "thoughts"...only to supplant each one by his next brain fart. He simply _cannot_ think things through, and thus stumbles from impulse to impulse. And woe betide any flunky who might have the timarity to suggest that his i͟m͟p͟u͟l͟s͟i͟o͟n͟ ͟d͟͟͟e͟͟͟ ͟͟͟l͟͟͟a͟͟͟ ͟͟͟s͟͟͟e͟͟͟c͟͟͟o͟͟͟n͟͟͟d͟͟͟e͟͟͟ is short-sighted!

Dunning Kruger Poster Boy who's also a malignant narcissist. Not great, Bob.

It’s a blunder pattern and it’s all ridiculous but let’s not let our excitement over his incompetence overshadow the real human life consequences. He’s a disaster but he’s our disaster.

Tina Johnson's avatar

I’m not claiming him or anything he has ever done or will do in the future as anything to do with me, anything I value, or everything love.

I’ll keep up, but only for the sake of targeted defiance or resistance, which are my only concessions to his existence on the planet.

Mel's avatar

Totally - he isn’t my president and doesn’t sound like yours. The issue is that the United States, of which we are both presumably citizens, started this war, and the US committed these atrocities. I’m advocating that our actions and protests and words be oriented to solving THAT reality. As much as I love a hard self own, and this administration gives plenty of fodder, their blunders are our mess to clean up, our hearts to heal, our history that our grandchildren will read.

Jane in NC's avatar

What's become clear by now is that Trump doesn't give a moment's thought to how his decisions will be carried out, what the consequences will be, or how much damage he'll do. Which brings into sharp relief that he's not a smart man, he's easily bullied [See: Netanyahu, Putin], and tries to run from or hide his mistakes [See: Epstein, Iranian girls' school], and never, ever takes responsibility. Look forward to reading your piece today, Jay.

He’s never the one who suffers the consequences.

I've been thinking that POTUS – Pedophile of the United States – could be changed to BOTUS – Bloviator of the United States. After your article BOTUS could also be Blunderer of the United States.

ICE would be simply the BEST and the BRIGHTEST ambassadors for Democracy to send to Iran.

Y’all remember Iran’s elected government from 1953, right?

Then the US of A put the Shah in power over oil, and, well… that friendly little move hardly endeared the USA to Iranians.

ICE would give Iran an opportunity to, ahem,

completely dissect the essentials of Democracy.

Both are free! And for those on fixed income, our Democracy Defenders pick up the tab. I just had one comp you for life at The Status Kuo.

I’m going to delete that comment. I don’t know what i would do without you. I don’t much like free-loading, so I pay for the ones most important to me, including yours.

Tina Johnson's avatar

$5 for each stack is cheap!

I go in regularly and pause a few so I can read others during that month. It can get tricky and I don’t always do it 100% correctly, but switching on and off can help control the costs.

Peggy Hendrickson's avatar

That’s my approach until I get my credit card bill, and then I need to make choices.
