This was an odd week, as we waited with collective and barely Shadenfreude-bated breath for Jack Smith’s federal grand jury indictment to drop. The Target Letter that 45 received Sunday night signaled the end was near, and that got not only him but his sycophants a bit riled.
Among them was Marjorie Three Names, who decided she would use her time at a hearing about Hunter Biden’s tax case to conduct revenge porn.
Biden’s lawyers have already filed an Ethics Complaint, and many are wondering if MTG committed any crimes later by blasting the same images out to her newsletter email list. We’ll have to see if anything comes of that.
Friends of the Bidens were quick to hit back on the hypocrisy and her behavior. Watch this, if you care to, here:
Perhaps Marge was just angry that her speech about Joe Biden at a radical right conference, intended to show how “socialist” he is, wound up being used by the Biden campaign as a great ad. Here’s the original speech:
And here’s the ad:
Dark Brandon had some thoughts…
The economic news around Bidenomics, with core inflation falling to 3% and unemployment at historic lows, left Fox scrambling to be mad about something. I guess it was (checks notes) the President’s shoes? Here’s the clip.
For young supporters of the president, this was really something new.
They probably are too young to remember the last time Faux News got angry about presidential attire.
Oh wait, they also freaked out about Biden sharing ice cream with workers. How totally unpresidential!
The far-right is simply having a hard time reading the room. And they are out of ideas about how to attack Joe Biden, so I guess it’s Hunter Hunter Hunter for the foreseeable future.
Speaking of the far-right, Republican darling and obvious spoiler RFK, Jr. attended a Congressional hearing, where he got into hot water right away. (Hint: If you have to swear hand on Bible that you’re not a racist or antisemite, you’ve probably already lost the battle…)
The internet always has receipts, though, and they come fast. Watch RKF, Jr. be racist and antisemitic in rapid succession just last week here!
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who fired many campaign staff members as he burns through cash and is attempting a “reset” on his bid for the nomination, was on the defensive again after Florida curricula guidelines tried to whitewash slavery by saying slaves benefited in some ways from their enslavement.
It didn’t go over well (pardon the grammar error here):
Fox’s attempts to cover for DeSantis fell apart quickly, too.
GOP official and Trump acolyte Meshawn Maddock of Michigan was one of the 16 people charged in connection with executing and submitting a false electoral slate certification for the state in 2020. Here was her mature response:
Here was the chaser:
Oh, that feels good.
In other news of douchebags acting badly, country singer Jason Aldean tried to defend his song “Try That in a Small Town” which contained lyrics about good ol’ boys taking care of their own and a music video purporting to show Black Lives Matter protests, all filmed in front of a courthouse where Black man was once lynched. Here’s a lovely snippet from the lyrics:
Aldean responded to the controversy in a rather cowardly way. Own your racism, man!
Of course, the video was replete with fake news footage, as one self-described “petty” (but wonderful) woman on TikTok quickly proved. Her take down is long but glorious:
The right was furious that his video got taken down and that he was “canceled” (he was not). This summed up my own feelings well:
Then the universe, and the internet, also delivered some great karma to Aldean.
I wish I could find out who made this in order to credit them. Slow clap.
In big climate news, it was the hottest week on record ever recorded in human history.
But you wouldn’t know it from the collective shrugs of the right. Here was my favorite quote tweet comeback:
The big news in entertainment was of course Barbie. That was an occasion for fragile guys to show how truly fragile they are.
This was a real chiron, for example.
Not inflation (which is way down), not migrant crossings (which are way down), but Barbie. AOC had thoughts:
As did one of my favorite podcasters and writers.
And boy were they triggered. Check out enfant terrible of the far right, Ben Shapiro, and this immediate take down:
The merch and promo for Barbie had the film’s cash registers ringing. This was my favorite take:
And this provided the best giggle:
Barbie opened the same weekend as the film Oppenheimer on the weekend henceforth known as “Barbieheimer.” Some movie-goers made it a double header:
But there’s a correct order in which to watch the movies. Otherwise,
Which film would win the weekend though?
Samuel Jackson weighed in on billionaires in a very Samuel Jackson way. Read this in his voice:
I started this post talking about deranged Trump followers, angry about his impending indictment, so I have to share this clip. Warning: She is very disturbed and very loud. Other warning: You might break your jaw smiling at the parting shot. Click here to watch, keep volume not very high!
After that, we need a palate cleanse. Here’s an otter perspective on life:
I leave you with a meme that is totally me.
Have a great weekend! And thank you for all your incredible words of support in this tough time. This community has help ease my pain of loss tremendously, and it has been great to get back to work and to keep a big, open and joyful heart, as so many here have advised. I am so grateful for you all.

FoxNews got no traction on the "$10 million" Joe Biden "bribe", so next best "scandal" up is his choice of footwear, which obviously assaulted the sensibilities of all Murkans! Man, the Fox team is just cooking!
The person who bragged about drinking "leaded water" out of a hose...that explains a lot. Marge needs to go to prison for oh so many things. My friend asked me this morning why Republicans are so triggered by Barbie. My reply was that these are people triggered by a green M &M, I expect nothing else from them. It would almost be comical if our literal democracy wasn't hanging in the balance. They're so terrified of Jack Smith that they'll do and say anything to change the subject. I really feel horrible for the Biden family, especially Hunter. What they have endured is unimaginable and heartbreaking. To see the Republicans do this shit, pisses me off to no end. They are cruel and heartless without one decent redeeming quality. We must win by overwhelming numbers in 2024, at every level. Anything less, and we're screwed.
