This is the most likely thing. It gives Trump a reason to drop Vance. And the photo of him in drag is reminiscent of the Madison Cawthorn release of embarrassing photos when the GOP wanted to ditch him. That's how they do it. Also the 3 week delay was to see how the voters were reacting to Vance and it wasn't good, so out come the photos.

Political parties are private organizations that can boost any campaign they choose.
Where there may be issues is ballot access, but if Republicans are considering dropping Vance post convention that seems like a ‘house is burning down’ type action.

I think this is a long more tangled of a story than the media chooses to report. It isn't just the media failing to do 'gotcha' journalism with Trump, suddenly oddly reticent to report on hacked material, or even the suspicious use of Politico. I heard WaPo was also approached by Robert and when they asked for additional info, he said if he revealed more, they might be in legal trouble publishing what he shared. Someone pointed out that is a real tip-off that Robert (whoever it is, he or she) is probably an intern, either with the law firm, or Trump's campaign. Iran wouldn't warn about the illegality of publishing the data, wouldn't even bother.
My rather wild guess here is Trump got wind of the leak, knew it would be embarrassing since it was internal, showing he's lost control of his own staff. So, he decided to throw sand in everyone's eyes, and pretend it is foreign interference.
Probably because, as with every single thing Trump does, he always signals what he is going to do by blaming the other side of doing what he in fact is planning to do to his opponent. I think this is a long more tangled of a story than the media chooses to report. It isn't just the media failing to do 'gotcha' journalism with Trump, suddenly oddly reticent to report on hacked material, or even the suspicious use of Politico. I heard WaPo was also approached by Robert and when they asked for additional info, he said if he revealed more, they might be in legal trouble publishing what he shared. Someone pointed out that is a real tip-off that Robert (whoever it is, he or she) is probably an intern, either with the law firm, or Trump's campaign. Iran wouldn't warn about the illegality of publishing the data, wouldn't even bother.
My rather wild guess here is Trump got wind of the leak, knew it would be embarrassing since it was internal, showing he's lost control of his own staff. So, he decided to throw sand in everyone's eyes, and pretend it is foreign interference.
Probably because, as with every single thing Trump does, he always signals what he is going to do by blaming the other side of doing what he in fact is planning to do to his opponent. Proactive denial. Makes media look stupid if they say he did it, when he's already got them talking about his competition doing it. Classic Roy Cohn tactic.
I am not buying the Iran thing either. Last week somebody published a warning about Iran trying to interfere with the election and then this leak is blamed on them? Nope not buying it. Insider job is way more likely.

On first hearing this story I thought immediately, " How does this story of leaked or hacked documents benefit the guy who cannot ever speak truthfully. I'm still in this space. However, the fingerprints of media, organizations, and law firms supporting the former guy still organizing and working to undermine and overthrow democracy is certainly no secret.
