News broke last Tuesday evening from The Washington Post that former president Donald Trump is now the subject of a criminal investigation by federal prosecutors, upping his legal exposure considerably in the eyes of legal observers.
Knowing Garland's track record, I've been patiently waiting for this news, and I'm so happy it's finally coming out! Jay, do you think we'll see any indictments handed down for any of the top co-conspirators prior to the November midterms? I feel like it's of the utmost importance to get some folks in handcuffs before then in order to ensure an overwhelming democratic win. Otherwise, I fear the repubs may regain control of either the house, or the senate, or heaven forbid, both. I feel like the DoJ would do well to get Meadows and at least one other in the hot seat sooner than later. Any thoughts?
Thank you for your posts! You and HCR are my therapy. I’ve got faith in Merrick Garland building this case and taking it where it needs to go. If it’s not airtight our democracy will crumble and we’re barely holding it together as is. He’s got an incredibly difficult task up against people in power and a nation full of others who can’t determine fact from fiction. Go Garland!
Jay, masterful summary of DOJ practice and developments. The admission of FAKE Electors then changed to Alternate Electors as in Alternate Facts is prosecutable now as an express admission.
I think the sigh of relief is palpable here... That said, Jay, do you feel that by making this announcement the DOJ is confident in the evidence it holds to bring indictments? It seems to me, given the "perceived" immunity some think sitting and former presidents have in evading accountability, that Garland would not have made any proclamation were he not comfortable.

Kuo's assessment gives informative, cogent perspective on this critical story, as always.
Throw the whole book ...
Wonderful summary. It helped me so much.
Thanks for taking time out from your vacation to put this together and post it!
