tRump is deranged and deluded about his power to just command Congress to do something. Funny how a guy in his second term still doesn’t understand how the government works… but he can only pull this idiocy off because the rethugs don’t have the spine to stand up to him. The Founders must be spinning in their graves.

It's funny that they don't see that "Trump Derangement Syndrome" took its name from the first known victim, just like every other syndrome in history.

Tina Rhea's avatar

Trump Derangement Syndrome is the belief that Trump deserves to be President and that voting for him was a good idea for the country or the voter (unless the voter is a billionaire, in which case it probably was a good idea for that voter).

Ron's avatar

I know, they are all deranged, but I was commenting that any "Joe's Syndrome" is a problem that Joe had that was found to affect more than Joe (e.g. Lou Gerrig's Syndrome). Thus, whatever TDS is, it is a problem that was originally diagnosed for Trump.

He doesn't understand much of anything

Judy Shaffer's avatar

It's not funny - it's tragic. But I get your point & agree 100% that he is aided & abetted by the MAGA Republicans. What a disgrace they are.

For Trump it’s not affordable housing unless it has a ridiculous ballroom.

Watch. The 10 day limit will run out, the bill will become law, and he’ll claim victory as if he had signed it into law himself.

Ron's avatar

I think even Faux News and Infowars would have trouble spinning that. Especially while he continues to provide juicy sound-bites that show his true nature

Beverly Tobey's avatar

Let me get that acronym right: It is “Suppress American Voting Eternally.” ?? Correct??

Ann W's avatar

"I made billions in housing." That's irrelevant, of course, but it's tellling that it was his response. And doesn't he have a clue that the so-called SAVE Act would disenfranchise a whole lot of GOP voters?

Pam McCullough's avatar

HE doesn't care who it disenfranchises only that it helps push his "crooked elections" conspiracy.

⬆️ this ⬆️

The electoral good will that would be generated by the bill isn't enought for him, so he demands that they conspire to cheat on the elections instead. It has never been about using the power of the federal government to help the people. It's about him avoiding the consequences of his actions

The Repugs in congress created and enabled this monster and now they are paying the price! Boo hoo

We all pay the price.

This would have been the FIRST time in ALL of the years of Der Trumpenfuehrer's reigns that a Republican Congress did ANYTHING to HELP and not harm the American public, and he, true to form, killed it. Let's face it, if it doesn't personally benefit him, he won't have anything to do with it, but will dangle it like a treat, and then whip it away at the last moment, so that he can gleefully enjoy everyone's disappointment.

Trump is one sick bâtard.

Betty Ann Director's avatar

DJT makes my head spin. We are all tired of his games.

The one time that the elected Reps and Senators just do their damn jobs, he messes it all up!

So much winning!

T’s response says it all…”Look, the housing bill is, I made billions of dollars with housing.” 😡

There is no Republican Party. There is only Zuul.

liking the reference!!!

I’m reminded of the “bipartisan immigration bill” hammered out in 2024… until the same jackass pressured some of the same other jackasses to vote against it. (Correct any details i’ve muddled, please.)

Very good comparison

You’ve made my day, Jay. 😘

Apparently, the Republicans can kiss the midterms goodbye👌

Kandarohe's avatar

Republicans can kiss the midterms goodbye if and only if all Trump's significant efforts to tamper with elections--the voter suppression act (SAVE), gerrymandering, Post Office disposal of mail in ballots in many states, intimidation by ICE at the polls, and satellite intervention in voting machine results--fail to take effect.

Susan Stone's avatar

A judge in Massachusetts has permanently blocked the post office from refusing to mail election materials. I believe that ruling applies nationally.

Kandarohe's avatar

I am glad a Massachusetts judge ruled that it would be illegal for the Post Office to refuse to mail election materials. It was also illegal for Trump to go to war without Congress' approval and spend billions of taxpayer dollars on an unlawful war. But nobody enforced the law. So he did it anyway.

Susan Stone's avatar

We'd be up a creek without our judges. I believe I got the information from Joyce Vance's Civil Discourse substack. Have you seen that trump is upset with congress for passing the war act? He says they're trying to take away his power, keep him from doing what he needs to do…

Chuck Lavazzi's avatar

Good news, but here's the Debbie Downer side: this administration is controlled by outlaws. They openly defy the law and so far nobody can touch them because federal law enforcement is controlled by outlaws. It's like having the mayor, aldermen, and police department all run by the mob.

Susan Stone's avatar

I agree with you, but I'm watching some of the cases like the IRS slush fund case, which may be reopened. I'm looking to see how the court punishes people who perpetrate fraud on the courts. That doesn't change your stated facts, but it does give me some hope.

Susan Stone's avatar

Just found out this morning, reading Marc Elias, that the judgement in this case applies only to the 17 states whose attorneys general brought the suit. However, Marc pointed out that since mail crosses state lines, the effects may be felt in other states.

bLUEduRham's avatar

And we don’t get out the “normal people” vote

Jay Kuo's avatar

Let’s hope so!

Why do people keep insisting that we are a functioning democracy and fail to admit we exist in a totalitarian regime, nearly in a police state? The evidence is all around us. The destruction at the White House, the destruction of monuments, the desecration of the Kennedy Center, undeclared wars, a dictatorship that compromises Congress and SCOTUS and has, so far, not produced any effort to improve the lot of the average citizen. Unbridled greed dominates, in broad daylight. Favoritism is blatant and unabashed. If this isn’t a bald faced, totalitarian regime, what is it??

NANCY Jambor's avatar

Jiminy. Convoluted and contorted for all involved. Like Langford working towards a bipartisan compromise on immigration, all set to go, and dumpy pooped all over it. No winning. Not for anyone anywhere. The excruciating pattern and attendant pain is clear.
