The New York Times had a piece out last Monday night that generally reported what we already know, namely that Trump aides are under pressure to testify against him in the NARA-Lago documents case. So why are we reading about this again? The Justice Department believes both witnesses hold important keys to the case against the former president for the unlawful mishandling and possession of government documents, including highly sensitive, national security and other classified information. As they say-follow the money. Who is paying for all these defense attorneys? The Federalist Society? The RNC? The Koch brothers? Other dark money sources? That should all be public information so that the puppet masters can’t hide behind the curtain as they conduct their corrupt activities.
Having worked for criminal defense lawyers and a judge, you again bring up the most important point. Planned leaks to drive the narrative is part of a defense's offensive strategy. I'm shocked that the reporters wouldn't consider what this "leak" actually means. Unless they have an upcoming piece similar to yours, I don't think it's credible reporting to not include what you brilliantly revealed.
We all know a lawyer’s first and utmost duty is to his client. Obviously, that duty sometimes is breached based on political motivation and connection. I am not ready as yet to presume Mr. Woodward will breach his ethical duties. However, I would never call Patel as a witness. He clearly is a loose cannon and ideologue. Calling him would be dangerous for the DOJ.
The corruption of that administration and all its minions is like a bottomless pit of filth. It seems like nobody at all can be trusted. With all the bad news that tRump received last week, it seems like he and his protectors are pulling out all the stops. We'll see what happens next. Either we'll be elated, or in fear for our lives.
My 1st thought was how are the two potential witnesses being coerced? Are they or their immediate family members being threatened? Are their future employment opportunities or the futures of close family members being messed with? Have they already received and are they living on 'hush' money? Cutting the strings of another's ownership of your person or of someone you love may be the difficulty. The legality of an attorney for witnesses being bought and paid for by the obstructionist/supporting entity of the obstructionist does need to be questioned.
Also, any strings causing potential harm perceived or real to the witnesses/witnesses' families needs to be severed.
Freedom to speak bravely about a situation that has repercussions beyond themselves may be the issue. Remove this and give them access to neutral, court appointed attorneys.

This is why Trump must testify on TV. He's so full of himself he will eventually spill all secrets and expose himself thinking he can do no wrong.
