If Kyle Rittenhouse and his supporters are to be believed, he was a civic-minded kid who drove to defend a town where he’d recently gotten a job, armed himself appropriately given the risks, and shot three men in self-defense out of fear for his own life, two of whom tragically died.
Aside from the (to me) obvious fact that the judge in the Rittenhouse trial should not be presiding, he is preventing the prosecution from "painting a full picture" of the defendant by not including information from outside the scene where the murders took place. Lawyers have no problem smearing the characters of the opposing side (welcome to being a woman) in most trials, so to not allow that is not giving the jury the full picture of the conscience-less Kyle.
