And I'm reading this as I'm now watching Marjorie Taylor Green in an administrative law hearing being confronted with her own words and denying - or "not remembering" - having said them. Yet, this cognitively impaired lawmaker, who is clearly ignorant of the law, is getting let off the hook time and again because an incompetent attorney for the plaintiffs doesn't know how to deal with a poorly stonewalling witness, the defendant. So very painful to watch!
So yes, these latest McCarthy tapes appear to be damning, but damn it, somebody has to have the balls and skills to use this and the mountain of other evidence to build an airtight case that even the most diehard liars and conspiracy mongers won't be able to deny. I'm sick of these folks being allowed to walk the streets with impunity, let alone have any legitimacy or power.
To hear her deflect to Nancy Pelosi/Tha Border!! like she's on Twittler was infuriating. It's a Court of Law, they don't allow witnesses to grandstand & make a mockery of the Legal Process.
The GOP is almost always guilty of that which they accuse others of doing. We need to get more people out to vote than ever before, and challenge every single attempt to curtail voting with the utmost ferociousness.
When John Boehner met Pope Francis, he quit being Speaker the next day. A devout Catholic, seeing Francis probably caused him to look at his life and work and he abruptly quit. McCarthy was supposed to succeed him. McCarthy was giving an interview to several members of the media and said: " “Everybody thought Hillary Clinton was unbeatable, right? But we put together a Benghazi special committee, a select committee. What are her numbers today? Her numbers are dropping." He spoke truthfully, but it was a stupid move. Paul Ryan succeeded Boehner as Speaker. McCarthy's just as dumb today as then.
I so badly want to pop some popcorn. I so badly want to believe that all these revelations we've seen of late are what we need to bring those to justice who've been dodging it for so long. They continue pretending they did nothing against our government and democracy, in fact doubling down on their rhetoric as if to say, 'This is all a witchhunt!' while they continue going about their 'business as usual.'
But as interesting as these bits of information are, it only proves one thing: That TFG's supporters and protectors will continue supporting and protecting him at any cost. It truly is shameful, and the ones who should be speaking the truth are hiding behind the curtain. Maybe I just don't understand the ramifications of this, but all this says to me--if McCarthy actually admits the conversation took place--is that he may end up alienating TFG. Because when the time to act was upon them, they did not. Bringing this to light now only shows what spineless slime they really are.
I want to see the communications between the members of Congress and the insurrectionists, the proof that they acted as enablers to the insurrection. Only then will I believe that there may be some indictments and actual punishment. Until then...
And for the record, even with all this information coming out, I've seen the commentary on random news websites. TFG's supporters are considering the insurrection 'a demonstration that got out of hand, nothing more' because there's no proof that BREAKING INTO THE CAPITOL BUILDING was THE PLAN. It just 'happened' during the frenzy. Those are good people, don'tcha know. The mental gymnastics are just amazing. Too many of them are refusing to give up on TFG, regardless of what information comes out.
Tapes of MTG or McCarthy? I say BOTH, with more of EVERYONE involved to come. They may trickle out as needed, but they'll save the best for a big reveal. After they've crossed all Ts, dotted every i, & connected all the evidence to every single one involved...
How satisfying it will be to hear their stories refuted by their own voices.

How wonderful that there are tapes!! I hope the committee uses them to their full advantage!
