Will the Debate Matter?
Look for my deeper dive into what we’re seeing from post-debate polls, focus groups, and soft indicators
I’m writing for The Big Picture substack today, and while we’re all still talking about Harris’s stellar performance at the debate against Trump earlier this week, I wanted to spend a bit of time delving into the numbers, some focus group results, and some soft indicia of enthusiasm such as voter registration and donations.
My piece on the debate’s possible effect on the race will be out later today. It’s free to subscribe to our newsletter at the below button! Of course, we always appreciate voluntary support, so if you value what we bring to the table, please consider a paid subscription! No obligation either way, of course.

If you’re already subscribed, thank you, and my piece will be in your inbox soon!
I’ll be back on here tomorrow with my regular Friday installment, and then on Saturday morning with a Xeets and Giggles that honestly will be pretty lit after what we saw from Trump and Harris on Tuesday.

I don't know if it will directly change any minds, but to me the most important effects are (1) it keeps Harris in the driver's seat, (2) Dems continue to be energized and (3) Trump is now flailing and prone to make more mistakes.
Don't forget the Taylor Swift impact, lol. I don't remember the numbers, but I read a piece out of Chicago indicating registrations in the Chicago area shot up an absurd amount *immediately* after she posted her endorsement.
Normally I'd snark and complain about sheep. But now, I love 🐑 sheep!!!
