It's a heads up to the article coming out later today on The Big Picture

There is nothing to open, other than reading Jay's short write up.

Me neither…

I've received the separate email for The Big Picture on "Ten Reasons....". Check your Inbox for it or, go here: https://thinkbigpicture.substack.com/p/harris-trump-ten-reasons-optimistic?publication_id=1258230&post_id=149108592&isFreemail=false&r=712xe&triedRedirect=true

Thank you!

Me either!

After just sending $60 (!!!) to subscribe to Status Kuo, now you ask me to subscribe $$ to something else to get your thoughts today??? Not impressed....:-(

From near the end of the above piece: "Look for my piece in your inboxes if you’re already a subscriber to The Big Picture. If you’re not, remember that’s it’s free to join!" FREE being the operative word.

Jay Kuo and his newsletter is worth every penny we pay, his breakdown of the news and issues is by far detailed, logical and easy to understand. Jay's work on so many levels is awesome! So be grateful that you are part of an amazing community!

Expand full comment

Oh, please. Grateful is a bit much, don't you think? I think it is worth paying for -- I'm not reading it free. I just want to see the posts on the site I paid for without being sent to another site. I subscribe to Heather Cox Richardson (she rocks! That's where I read about Kuo) and have never been sent to another site, let alone being asked to contribute. So peace, OK?

Should I be worried that so many people who one might assume, from their closer than typical involvement with progressive politics, would be capable of comprehending a simple message, so completely misunderstand it?

Expand full comment

Right?! Reading comprehension seems to be lacking today. These comments are just... wow.

Expand full comment

Not really. More people than you might believe misinterpret what their eyes see very plainly,

mostly due to some shortage in their attention, and being in a hurry.

After posting my comment ("are" to correct the typo) I read the rest of the comments. Obviously this edition was not well done, based on the comments about the confusion it caused. That is surprising sine the presentations are usually SO well done, as in "First I'll . . . . then I will detail . . . ."

My Eng. 101 teacher, "Ray, write what you meant to write, not what you thought you wrote."

It is so much different than simply saying something, much slower, and that in itself is a barrier for anyone whose normal rate of brain activity has outpaced its usefulness...? I think...

And then I made another typo . . . "since." ha ha. My problem isn't writing, it is editing my writing. Nice dog!

My mom was a gifted artist in many ways, her longest career being in interior design.

She had a gifted eye, and I thank you for the compliment on her watercolor of Jeremy.

I am also a paid subscriber and cannot open this- need a fix, please!

The article is coming in a separate, subsequent email.

There's nothing to open, yet!

Jay said the 10 reasons will be in inboxes this afternoon. Not now.

Expand full comment

It's 5:17pm in the time zone Jay lives in so afternoon is over. And why is there a button that says "I want to read those 10 reasons" if the piece is not out yet?

Expand full comment

Jay, we are paid as a subscriber and on the free plan for the big picture yet we cannot manage the subscription in order to hear the big picture for free. When we joined we thought it was for your week of emails.

Isn't this Ohio Sheriff threatening anyone who posts a Harris/Walz yard sign a violation of federal law? I'd like to see this guy sitting in his own jail, looking at his replacement

Hi Jay,

The button "I Want To Read Those 10 Reasons" opens up to "Choose a Subscription Plan". I'm already a paid subscriber. Hopefully this will be corrected and that button will allow readers to see the reasons why you "feel pretty decent about the election" soon. Thx.

Expand full comment

Also subscribe (last charge was 9/12/24) and Substack is not taking me to the "10 reasons", but inviting me to "subscribe" again. Something is amiss.

Expand full comment

To save you the trouble of rereading, here's the bit you apparently missed!

"In my piece out this afternoon, I delve into ten of those reasons. Look for my piece in your inboxes if you’re already a subscriber to The Big Picture. If you’re not, remember that’s it’s free to join!"

Afternoon is over and it's not available and the link still takes you to a sign up page where it tells me I am already a free subscriber but doesn't allow access to the article. How does a Status Kuo subscriber access the article?

Expand full comment

You were wrong about Biden. Fess up, bud.

Forgetting to add a link is the kind of mistake you make when there is a new born in your life.

Thank you, Jay, for so consistently offering your very skilled, intelligent, and level-headed take on current issues. I read both Status Quo and Big Picture. Though I can't afford a paid subscription, I appreciate greatly all the content you so generously provide to free readers. You are a gem. Thank you for all you do! 💚🙏

The purple button is for anyone not already a subscriber to The Big Picture to do so. You can subscribe for FREE or as a paid subscriber. The difference is that, as a paid subscriber, you can make or respond to comments.

The piece is actually out now though.
