Jay, As you make note about your soon to be increasing family size with the little one on the way 🙂, it reminds me of the passage from Ken Burn’s excellent commencement speech at Brandeis University. Your life will never be the same.

“At some point, make babies, one of the greatest things that will happen to you, I mean it, one of the greatest things that will happen to you is that you will have to worry, I mean really worry, about someone other than yourself. It is liberating and exhilarating, I promise. Ask your parents.”

Wonder what your thoughts are on Rep. Raskin’s idea to force Supreme Court Justices to obey the law: https://www.nytimes.com/2024/05/29/opinion/alito-thomas-recuse-trump-jan-6.html?u2g=i&unlocked_article_code=1.v00.4scU.uNrRJkq8rJ5e&smid=url-share

Thank you for sharing this. It’s quite clear that Alito and Thomas must recuse themselves.

CJ Roberts just cleared the way for Congress to act immediately to reign in these autocratic Justices who defy democratic and Constitutional principles. (Robert’s refuses to make Alito recuse himself saying it’s each individual justice’s choice. 🤥🤑

Well, Jay, your shift may not mean a saner schedule but I'm sure you're gonna love the insanity with the little one!

I suspect that Team Trump has been working the background to buy out one or more of the jurors - anyone else taking bets?

The guy who would have been able to do this for them is the star witness against him! But seriously, it’s how John Gotti hung his juries…

Only if drumfp can write a check and then deduct on taxes as business expense and surely it's a business of sabotaging election to get into WH and then run a business from WH.

Although drumfp is known to not pay anyone, heck he didn't Ms Daniels and then Cohen even for the ultimate con and big pay off of swindling the Treasury and American people. It would be interesting to find out how many jurors and their families, allegedly, been threatened.

"As the name suggests, [The Big Picture is] a great companion subscription to The Status Kuo."

Just think of it as The Big Kuo!

Jay, I so enjoyed your memoir, MA IN ALL CAPS . As a thank you for all that you do, I’d love to send you one of my children’s books for the baby. Will try to reach out to you by direct message through Substack.

👍🏼❣️ Long haul is great. AND ALSO, as well, having a day off a week is still a great subscription on our end. Way better not to be a party to burnout, which is not, not noble. Going as a long distance runner is commendable. I wish all you great columnists would be off one day a week. It’s reasonable! PS to clarify, using The Big Picture is a great trade for the sixth day! Just sayin’ —

Best to you, Jay 🙏😊

You have certainly earned the right to cut back on your schedule a bit, Jay. We value your efforts on The Big Picture as well. I support you and several others for that reason. If you need to tailor your hours better once the little one is here, we will certainly understand and be excited for your getting to experience being a parent!

I very much appreciate my subscriptions to your Substack and The Big Picture - both provide such important information and I really appreciate the different perspectives offered by The Big Picture. I definitely recommend both to everyone. Good luck with the preparation for your new baby! Looking forward to seeing photos of Windsor and her new sibling :).

Alongwith timely eating, enough sleep and probably everything else. It's been almost 35 years and still not being able to sleep properly. Once a parent always a parent.

I already wake up at 4am because of the cat!

Funny we wake up early for them, pretty willingly. I miss my Jaycee forever.💔 But now get to spend time with my daughter's angel... ❤️ I refuse to call dogs, dogs they're angels who save people.

Unfortunately, dogs & cats don't understand retirement or weekends. Our Jack wakes my husband up EVERY morning at 5:15 if he's still in bed.
