This is why we need to run up the margin of victory. It’s relatively easy for bad actors to mess with one state but 2, 3 or 4 is much harder to accomplish. Further, if it comes down to one state SCOTUS may feel brazen enough to put their thumb on the scale but again multiple states is much more difficult. So let’s do more to win and worry less. We have the best experts in the country working election interference problems and our job is to run up the score to make their job easier!

I'm sure they'll find a way to contort whatever issue is presented to allow them to rule for trump like they did in the immunity case.

Not if we win by enough! Don’t let them scare you. Yes the threat is real but we can win by a large enough margin to overwhelm them.

Looking forward to your take on things on The Big Picture. Staying informed takes some effort these days. Thankful for you and others who help sort things out.

Per Marc Elias in my Democracy Docket newsletter: “Democrats sue Georgia election board over ballot hand counting rule

The Democratic National Committee (DNC) and Georgia Democrats sued the State Election Board today to block a new rule passed by MAGA board members that requires poll workers to hand count Election Day ballots. Democrats argue that the rule violates state law and could delay results.

The DNC and state Democratic Party also filed a lawsuit against the board last month over two rules that could delay election certification. A bench trial in the case is set for tomorrow”. This newsletter is from yesterday, meaning the bench trial is today. What is a bench trial? Thank you!

It is a trial where the judge hears both sides and all the evidence in a case, and makes a decision from the bench”. There is no jury.

Thanks for the explanation. I've been wondering that for a while, too, but hadn't gotten around to finding out. 🙂

Right now I am donating every extra dollar I have to support Harris/Walz, as well as all of the NC candidates, AND to some of my local county candidates (especially the school board candidates)! But once this is all done I will have a few bucks left at the end of the month and I have already decided to support all of your efforts. I do appreciate all you are doing.

Yes. Some of us are dealing with natural disasters and donating to Dems to win the election. Substack gets expensive fast. I’m already over the amount I saved from canceling my subscriptions to NYT and WaPo.

Thanks for all that you do, Jay! I really appreciate it.

Yes! Get Vance off women and the couch.

I'd gladly give him every couch in my house (give, not lend, because i surely wouldn't want them back) if it would guarantee he'd leave everyone else alone!

You do very important work, Jay. I am retired and on a very tight budget. I wish I could be a paid subscriber but I can't. Thank you for allowing people like myself to still participate in these discussions about our freedoms.

Right now I’m worried about the disaster in Western NC and voting. I’m hoping a lot of people got to early voting as I did as an expat. My local BoE was closed Friday but back in business Monday. Asheville is a whole different kettle of fish and it’s usually pretty Blue. As for all the other outlying areas in the mountains that are cut off completely, I can’t imagine how this will affect those areas. That’s a third of the state right there.
