I was so burned out from making contributions last year all over the place to secure a Democratic win, that I have done zero contributions in 2025 until YESTERDAY! Thank you Jay.

We trust you, Jay. You have proven that you do your homework. If you believe it is an important action ... most of us will accept your analysis and conclusion.

As a Virginian, thank you. ❤️👏

Me, too, Gail! Thanks, Jay. I donated and have put this and your previous article on my FB page.

I’ll do the same!😘

I just committed to replying stop to all political appeals. I got so burned out on Lucy-and-the-football opinion and preferences list locking my responses with donation demands the I just quit.

Respectfully, I can delete fundraising emails til the cows come home if it means saving our democracy from authoritarianism. I do stop them on my texts, and unsubscribe from those distant from me, but some races are key and while I’m not exactly flush even $5 spread over the masses could be key. I absolutely realize they’re a PIA, but I’m not ready to throw up my hands and disengage.

I get it. I reply STOP to all texted pleas for donations (I still get anywhere from 5 to 10 a day) but I still make donations to races that I feel are of really important strategic value, like keeping the 3 "liberal" PA Supreme Court justices, or on Prop 50 in CA. I pick and choose where I donate. This recommendation from Jay Kuo got my attention so I gave based on my respect for him and his recommendation.

You’re the best. Progress seems to be bypassing MSM. It’s the not underground, underground.

I think I can find any one of them online if I have resources to give. That said I began having panic attacks and the stress of not being able to give physically messed with me. I have had significantly reduced anxiety and distress this year over last around this and am thankful that there is a work-around that so far has helped my situation.

I do the same. I stop all political texts, period, and do not do email on my phone. I am member of 2 or 3 online groups run by people I respect who keep me informed and give a sense of critical elections and issues. (Jay is one, of course!) I can id what seems most meaningful for me to donate my limited funds to.

For a while, I stopped using ActBlue until they removed the phone requirement (had some interesting discussions with them over that). Since then, I do use them, as they are trustworthy, or occasionally donate to an org I trust. I do NOT ever put my phone # in, period.

Periodically I assess the online groups I belong to and figure out which one's are useful/supportive, and which are redundant. Helps me keep down both stress and impact on time. I need to be involved, but I also have the other parts of my life that need tending (as my dog keeps reminding me).

I love supporting it this way and that always has been my intention. I wish they didn't bring all of their friends along.

Done -- and thank you for the opportunity.

I live in Virginia and cannot thank you enough for focusing on this important race!

Restacked with a note about the importance of this appeal. Thanks, Jay.

I voted for him when I cast my early ballot (I go all blue all the time) but I am sad he made those stupid text comments. Granted it was in the past but dude, you should have done better than that. He’s still a far better choice than that MAGA guy. I’ve actually been worried his past mistake was going to hurt Spanberger, too. We need them to win!!

Jay, what about the judges elections in PA? Isn't that super important too? Maybe you could educate folks about that as well?

Aaron Speca's avatar

Thank you for highlighting what I've always thought was the most important single race in our state of Virginia.

I have a real problem with Jay Jones for sending messages that referenced shooting former House Speaker Todd Gilbert. How do you reconcile that fact with voting for him?

Jeff's avatar

Read Jay's previous email explaining it all.

Jones is much better than a Maga-enabler.

Hope Ratner's avatar

Which one? I read the one that I made this comment on. Is there another? I respect Jay totally but this just seemed too far in the hold your nose category.

Also, I agree that those were terrible messages, but they weren't just random threats. The context was they were halting gun control legislation and he was saying maybe they would feel differently if the shooting was closer to home.

Thanks Jeff. I appreciate your reply and further explanation.

Sure, we're all in this together...

It’s empowering to know that we’re in the majority.
