I wish R's had heart. We the people are suffering. Shootings are everywhere, everyday. Do you go to school today? The mall? Church, synagogue, or mosque? Street fair? Parade? Well? Do feel lucky, punk? Do you? 😔
When Australia had a mass shooting decades ago, one brave leader sacrificed his career to eliminate weapons of war. And the Aussies still feel free.
Yup... Aussies only needed one hideous tragedy to bring them to their senses. I honestly don't understand why this is not sinking in. Dr. Heather Cox Richardson actually re-posted her piece on the history of Second Amendment - and it literally DOES NOT MEAN that everyone is entitled to carrying a firearm. HOW it got to where that's the way it's interpreted is beyond me.
After Sandy Hook I thought, for sure, we would see some radical changes. And that was 10 years ago. Nothing. I don't understand Republicans. What needs to happen? Are they waiting for a mass shooting in the Capitol building? Because we very nearly had one on January 6 - how did they like that? Just.... frustrated as hell...
Thank you sir for the emails being sent to me, and especially for the one sent today.
Great photo of you and your brother!! I appreciate having a free subscription for Status Kuo.
And I hope in the future I am able to upgrade to a paid one. My money is very limited, however,.
Also, my home is in poor condition with floors which have weak spots in two rooms.
There was damage to my home when I bought it, and I made repairs, but cannot keep up.
After Hurricane Florence a few years ago I had to patch my roof and it needs to be replace. But I have been saving, will have enough for a move soon, I pray, likely to an apartment or residence I rent, where repairs and maintenance are no longer my responsibility, as I am elderly now and want to relax more!!
LOL
I will be so happy when I have saved enough for this move after being here, mostly happily, for 20 years. .
And once I have accomplished that, it will be one of my priorities to continue receiving The Status Kuo, and my plan is to upgrade to a paid subscription..
May you and all those you love be blessed with good health and be safe, always!! My prayer for y'all.
And it is nice to have taken this opportunity to comment. I wish our Creator makes all your days and evenings to come, very happy ones!!
Sincerely,
Sandy Fox, elderly, old hippie-type person, but young in mind! LOL.

It's getting more and more difficult to like this country. Literally no one is safe and our elected officials are cowards, at best. I'm heading to Italy in a couple of weeks. I'm staying for 3 weeks and one of the many things I'm looking forward to is not having daily slaughters in the news cycle. I've been thinking a lot about just leaving the US. The only think keeping me here are my kids and my grandchildren. Not sure how good of a mom or grandma I am with my sanity hanging by a thread, though. Get some rest, have a safe trip and I hope everything goes well with your new show.
I understand feeling let down by our leaders. On my last visit to Italy I was amazed by the military presents in the streets especially at tourist locations. So surprised I took a photo of one of them. Another military police came running to me and demanded I remove the photo and he watched and checked my phone to be sure I did. Living in Italy is different for sure than our America. Think hard before you leave your friends, family and America. We need awareness and strength to here to change Pandora's box that has spewed over especially in the last years since Trump set the stage for the political violence which takes the form of unethical and inhumane violence towards ethnic and minority groups whom he feels are inferior. Yes, the roots of Hitler are taking place in the USA and also in the world. We can all run but we can't hide from these sociopolitical changes before us because right now they feel like the actions of many leaders are going unchecked. I have hope that our readers and like others will prevail.
I've lived in Japan for almost 40 years and, while Japan doesn't allow private gun ownership except for hunting in certain areas, random knife crime is becoming more and more of a problem.(Anyone can buy a kitchen knife without any kind of controls, right?) And, the Japanese police can arrest you and hold you for 3 weeks without bringing specific charges---and they can legally extend that 3-week detention several times if a judge allows it. So, I agree with you, Jacqueline, living in other countries always has an allure but reality is very different.
Thank you for your perspective. I'm not even sure what my tipping point would be. I'm not there yet, and may never be, but I need to have options, just in case.
Take care of yourself, Jay. That's the most important thing to us. I deeply appreciate everything you're doing to make our world better, with your legal mind, artistic gifts, and emotional labor. Rest and take breaks and let us know how we can help you. ❤️
The only way to turn this pro-gun tide is to start sharing (in the MSM) the photos of children with their heads and bodies decimated by these weapons. How dare we not look!
I agree - I want them to WITNESS what they have caused- they should she what these babies look like when slaughtered! MAKE THEM LOOK!! If we the people witness it all the time - the need to see the outcome. I cried my eyes out when Uvalde happened and NO ONE WOULD DO A THING to help them. Heartless fucking cowards!
I listened to Kaiser's podcast "How China Sees the World." Kaiser sounds brilliant, like you. I enjoyed hearing about your family and his views on China. I can't imagine anyone more uniquely positioned to
discuss this subject. It was an eye opener and I encourage anyone to google Kaiser and listen to his podcasts.
Jay, I was so pleased to see this email this morning because you did what many of us have hoped you would for a long time. {{cue music}} "he took a break, he took a break! He had a snuggle with Hudson, he got some sleep, and he took a break! and he surVIVED!!"
Seriously you worry us with that candle and both ends bit.
You and your brother look fantastic! We are one human race A rainbow of colors and creeds May we all strive to love and respect one another. Add to that galvanize our strength and might to stop the gun violence. It is on our shoulders to move the needle away from guns. We are not free until we do so. Take care dear Jay. Rest up today. A million thank you for all you do.
Take good care Jay! Unfortunately, no change will occur over gun laws and mass shootings will continue every week. It's a lot to fathom and process, but your own mental health and downtime to catch up on sleep is more important than anything. Thanks for all you do for us! We appreciate you immensely.
I believe that change WILL occur over gun laws. I actually like one commenter’s idea that the 2nd Amendment could be repealed--it’s no longer necessary or relevant, after all. HCR wrote today about the history of guns, the NRA, and interpretations of the 2nd Amendment and how those changed. It hasn’t been that long. They can change again.
