Thanks for your picks. I agree, but in particular with Jon Tester. I lived in Montana for a number of years, and had occasion to vote for Jon in both of his prior Senate races. I have continued to support him since I move back home to Rhode Island and contribute as best I can to his campaign. Why? Mostly because of Jon's decency and integrity. Jon is the real deal in so many ways. In his personal life, he really is a farmer. When he leaves DC, he's home harvesting his fields, and celebrating life with his family. But when he's in DC, he's passionate about the causes he believes in. For those in doubt, go back through the media and watch some of his impassioned speeches on the floor of the Senate on health care. I urge all your readers to take your advice so seriously!...And welcome to your lovely little girl. Grab sleep when you can!
This is so true. I’ve been a fan of Tester for years. He’s honest, hard working, and has advocated tirelessly for our veterans. It’s a sad commentary that he isn’t far ahead in the polls. His rival has been caught in numerous lies and exaggerations, and isn’t even from Montana.
Betsy, I’m not a believer in Synchronicity, no matter what Carl Jung theorized about. However, in my belief system I admit everything I believe could be wrong.
So “Tester?” Is re-electing Jon Tester a sign that the moral compass of our country is being TESTED?
OK getting dark so I advise sensitive readers to go no further. So as I’m entertaining these thought it appears another warning may be being sent. Five people shot today in their cars while traveling on a Kentucky interstate. Nine cars were shot at.
So JD Vance now can be excited—does that demon ever show excitement?—to once again turn our stomachs defending guns?
Here is the Synchronicity with a warning: Vance can get excited to spew his nonsense with excitement because the suspect’s name is COUCH.
Also, thanks to Jay for including snail-mail addresses ! I shared your link with commenter Kathleen Murray after she posted this on another Substack:
“On behalf of a friend who donates generously - but only by check - to help elect Democrats, I ask that every candidate and every organization make it easy to find an address to send a paper check and, if a disclosure form is needed, make that available as an easy-to-print PDF to be sent with the check. Older donors have a lot money, care tremendously about the future for their grandchildren and great grandchildren and are not comfortable using electronic donation links. Democrats are leaving a lot of money on the table by making it too hard for these folks to donate.”
Wait…”older donors have a lot of money…” I must’ve missed that line when they handed that out 🤦🏻♀️ I can’t even find it on my table. I DO care tremendously about the future for my grandchildren and great-grandchildren. It’s also not too hard to donate. I’ve donated AND I write postcards, previously in Florida and currently in Ohio. For the “older
And to clarify, thank you, Jay! Your posts are always informative and I learn a lot from you. Let’s keep up the hard work everybody. We need everybody to do SOMETHING! We can win this, up and down the ballot!
Agree, Laura, not all of us have a lot of money but we do care tremendously. I shared Kathleen’s comment because it resonated with me.My dad, who lived on Social Security, was not comfortable with the thought of having a cell phone, computer, using an ATM or the internet. It was “hard “for him.Although he did like to donate, by check.Perhaps Kathleen also had another message…we are a big tent for all in this ever-changing,digital world…
Sunni, that makes two of us! I also appreciate the fact that Mucarsel is Latina--and would be in a position to cancel out Rubio. So many reasons to hope she is elected.
Hate to keep repeating this, but FL and TX are where Dem hopes go to die...a couple of election cycles away in each state from even being competitive...voter reg. difference hard to overcome in each state.
Don't depend on voter party registration. I register as GOP in my state because that is the ONLY way to get to vote in primaries, I can try to help keep the super crazies out. I know, doing a bad job of it, but it's very important LOCALLY. For federal level I vote for the DEM.
The fact you have to register into a party is odd to an Australian. Then you Americans have a really odd voting game altogether. I wonder how many others have done what you did. Another reason not to trust polls, as most are taken from party members.
No better time than NOW to start then! If the Harris campaign thinks we are worth sending over a thousand ground organizers here than the least we can do is help in any way possible.
I hope the Cheney's can head to Montana and support Jon Tester. I've been donating to him, Ruben Gallego, Colin Allred, , Lisa Blunt Rochester, Tammy Baldwin, Elissa Slotkin, Sherrod Brown, Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, and Gloria Johnson (Tennessee) for months on recurring donations. Also certain House Candidates, such as Pat Ryan (NY) and Trisha Calvarese (CO-to defeat Boebert). And Montana has abortion on the ballot. Montana has a large Indigenous population. Project 2025 will take away their freedoms and limit tribal sovereignty. The Harris-Walz campaign visited the Navajo nation on September 7 and had a float in their parade. (My son works on the Harris-Walz campaign.) I hope the float or one of their campaign buses heads to Montana asap.
I still keep wondering if I should get a drug test. I NEVER imagined I’d be “ What Dick Cheney says!” These last months/years have been so fucking upside down.
As soon as I get an unsolicited email I unsubscribe to it. Easy enough. But the speed and ease of using ActBlue far outweighs the chance of the donation coming too late to help. IMHO.
Also, we are comfortable in our retirement and, considering that these races are CRUCIAL to us moving forward for our children, we've decided to dip into our savings and donate as much as we can. After all, we can't take it with us.
Thanks for that assessment. I would beg everyone who has the spare change to also support Colin Alred. Historically Texas has a number of registered Democratic voters who don’t bother to show up. There is a movement to reach that group, educate them about down ballot races and get them to the polls. Texas isn’t nearly as red as it appears!
Is this not Sunday , Jay ! I thought we all agreed , you could have Sundays off ! Now you have Riley and Winston , therefore , if we have to , we, your readers are going to have to get tough with you.....Sundays are for family only ( barring any emergency)! Don't make us use drastic measures, Jay ! Cheers !
ActBlue does share info - and every resulting email I got had an "unsubscribe" link which worked first time all the time. People need to get over it and use this phenomenal tool without which we'd be lost.
I wish I could say the same for the unsubscribe button on rick Scott’s email. I sent an angry email years ago and have probably unsubscribed unsuccessfully about 400 times since and they keep showing up like a festering wound that won’t heal. Make it stoppppp.
I find it even easier to just click on Delete for candidate emails I don't intend to donate to. I have a long list of candidates I'm donating to and even they keep sending me emails seeking more money. Again, Delete key.
I’m a Floridian and regularly donate to Debbie. I just sent Jon a donation. I can’t believe Montana would let him go! He’s done so much for them! I ignore the polls because I think they’re reporting a close race just to keep the donations coming and to make sure people show up at the polls.
Same here. I donate to campaigns when I get my Social Security check, and then keep enough to live on in the month ahead. I gave to Jon Tester this past check, and will donate again when I get my next one.
I do get the frustration of emails from ActBlue BUT I also find it selfish. I would be happy to get 300 emails every day if it was because I DID SOMETHING to keep the fucking fascists from completely taking over. So, seriously, stop being whiny idiots and fucking DO SOMETHING! It’s less than two months. You can unsubscribe after November 5th. To quote Leonard’s mother “Buck up sissy pants!”
Thank you. I strongly agree with these top two priorities and have given to both. Sen. Tester is also asking for help with phone calls where a few hundred Montana votes could literally decide everything. You can volunteer to help him by texting VOLUNTEER to 73053.
I am also supporting Colin Allred in Texas, who was just endorsed by Liz Cheney, and Lucas Kunce against Josh Hawley in Missouri. Both are running very strong campaigns that deserve our help despite the uphill effort and long odds. The incumbents they are challenging both championed the January 6 attack on the Capitol. In their last elections in 2018, both of these MAGA politicians barely cleared 50% of the vote, and the massive popular turnout expected this year could make it harder for these very unpopular politicians to win. Missouri may also have a turnout-boosting abortion referendum on the ballot, depending on court action this week.
OMG, your comment kind of freaked me out. Sadly, I have a brother (also a Mike Brady) who is deep in the cult. For a millisecond I thought he’d seen the light.
Great explanation on the "What about..." part. If we have a limited budget on who to support, these seem like wise choices. I'm going to try to donate to 3: Tester, Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (who I never heard of until now!), and Allred, with an emphasis on the first two.

Much appreciated knowledge for this former Rhode Island native to hear.
Thank you for highlighting Debbie in Florida!! Would love to send Sick Rott packing!
Yes !!! Politics Girl has a great new 4-minute video about why voters should elect Debbie Mucarsel-Powell and send Sick Rott🤣/Rick Scott packing !

Yes, we grandparents do care deeply and are working hard to save democracy! 🌊🌊🌊🇺🇸
I live in WA and would love to see Rick Scott shown the door out!! Good luck with that goal!! 🤞🤞🤞

Sick Rott 🤣😹
Is that what the kids are calling him these days? :-)
It beats Leon Skum!
Not mine originally, but I use it any time I can!

It must be in play to the Dems or the Harris campaign wouldn't be allocating so much down ballot money into the fight.
I hope the Cheney's can head to Montana and support Jon Tester. I keep hearing Pentatonics singing “It’s a Mad World.”
Wow. Impressive list of people you have donated to. Thank you.
Thank you so much for donating to Gloria Johnson!! We in Tennessee are SO tired of Marsha Blackburn!!💙💙💙
Thank you Linda.

Yep, we donate as we are able and, I too, delete email and texts.. it will end soon enough, and HOW it ends MATTERS!!

I donated to Tester a few days ago when that poll came out. I’ll donate again in a couple weeks when I can.
Same here. I donate to campaigns when I get my Social Security check, and then keep enough to live on in the month ahead. I gave to Jon Tester this past check, and will donate again when I get my next one.
He’s an honest, decent man and he cares deeply about our veterans.
I don’t mind the emails and texts coming in—just delete—no problem.
Exactly!

Hopefully Walz will campaign for Tester or at least give him some of their cash.

Donated.

I just now answered a spam incoming call, ended up agreeing to sign up to make calls!
