I appreciate the Hill Hill Hill Hill pic, but have you ever thought about The La Brea Tar Pits? It literally means The The Tar Tar Pits.

How do the Tartars feel about that, I wonder?

Kinda like the “The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim”. The the angels angels of Anaheim, or as I prefer to call them, the stuttering morons.

Jaime Ramirez's avatar

Originally they were the Los Angeles Angels, then moved to Anaheim & became the California Angels, sometimes the Anaheim Angels. I used to be a baseball fan but no longer am. So I wasn't aware they were now officially called the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, but it would be pretty typical of our modern world to choose unnecessarily longer, more complicated names & terms.

Their somewhat slimy owner made the change to the stuttering morons several years ago (pre-COVID) thinking that advertising types were dumb enough to spend more on an Anaheim club with “LA” in the name. They weren’t that dumb. . . The city sued since the stadium contract required the team to be the Anaheim Angels, but I seem to recall the settlement said “of Anaheim” was close enough.

The biggest mountain in Maine, and the end of the Appalachian trail is called Mt. Katahdin. 'Katahdin' in the Penobscot language means 'mountain', and thus it is 'Mt. Mountain'.

Get a lot of that in California. The La _________. You would think you would pick up some Spanish just by osmosis there. Not so.

I am thinking of drastically reducing my contact with politics just to keep myself sane. This will be one of the few things I plan on keeping. What a way to get political news!

Oh em gee, thanks to this week's version of Skeets and Giggles, a lightbulb turned on over my head and I finally figured out why Trump won.

Two things:

1. If you were unaware cats love ice cream, you must have never lived with one. I have to hide eating ice cream to avoid being mobbed by the Fabulous Jamieson Avenue Felines.

2. Scammers are now all AIs. There appear to have been five AI programs made that sold to the Nigerian Princes who run these things, according to my experience of the game plan up to the first ask. If you're a middle aged or older guy online and a beautiful woman (not necessarily young, but they are the majority) wants to get to know you, you are dealing with an AI bot. 100% guaranteed. The nice thing about being on Bluesky is the system creates an algorithm based on your individual actions - so banning10 of the "accounts" of the many young women with 2 followers and 1 post who want to get to know this "famous writer" resulted in none of those now showing up in my feed.

Jaime Ramirez's avatar

Maybe it's the wrong flavor for your cat. Mine have all loved ice cream, but many current ice creams have so many other things packed into them & could also just be too sweet for their taste. Also cats like butter & cheese. And milk & cottage cheese. Yogurt & pudding, too, I think.

What a January. We pay our respects to a 100 year old president who lived a moral, productive and exemplary life. We thanks an outgoing president who has achieved tremendous things for the country in the past 4 years and also has lived and is living and exemplary life and then ………. We sign this:

How about a round for the next elected President of the United States of America!

For he’s a jolly good felon,

For he’s a jolly good felon,

For he’s a jolly good felon,

The sentence he can’t deny.

Wouldn’t those Founding Fathers be proud?
