There are some people who insist that we shouldn’t make fun of the absurdly false and unsubstantiated claim that immigrants in Springfield, Ohio are eating people’s pets, or that undocumented migrants are getting free sex change operations in prison.
Not so funny is MAGA is using the pet eating thing to fuel violence in Ohio, trying to incite stochastic terrorism against the immigrant community and scare enough people to flip the Senate seat. I wonder what's the best way to counter that. Ten years of this crap has shown us that scolding and appealing to morality doesn't work, so maybe just mocking it is the way to go.
One would hope some three letter agencies might deploy some resources to see if they can assist in finding some of the people that have showed up to harass their citizens. They might find a few from their most wanted lists and some probation violations. Speaking of violations, add this one to the hitting of a parked plane in Fl, not sure if same plane or pilot, but that's two incidents within 4months and violating restricted airspace better result in serious consequences.

We must learn to do two things to fight MAGA. We must never treat them as serious people, and we must also treat their actions as if they have serious consequences. That is a hard line for many folks to walk, but it’s what I’m hoping to do, along with many other political commentators.
I have to laugh at all this stuff but I completely understand your sentiment. I do think that people are rallying around this migrant community. If I lived in Ohio or could manage a trip even from where I live now, I'd go there and do what I can.
The worst aspect of this is that Haiti's current conditions are the direct result of Western colonialism (and some very bad luck from mother nature). I suggest that anyone who is interested in this topic read about not just current events in Haiti, where Kenya has graciously accepted the very difficult challenge of trying to establish some kind of order there in the face of street gangs who are controlling most parts of major urban centers, but its history, too. France, for example, demanded reparations *from* Haiti for Haiti's war of independence.
The world owes Haiti massive reparations for the way its people have been treated over the last two+ centuries. But we can't even really get the Kenyan police force assigned to fix the gang problem there properly funded. It's a travesty we all own.
