The next mid-term election will feature all of the house and 35 senate seats to be contested.

I look forward to that.

Provided we HAVE a mid-term election that isn't merely a phony pony show.

Hope the Dems just avoid a redo of this year's "He's a nasty, bad guy" as campaign material, and offer up candidates and messages that really do speak to the average voter's needs and concerns.

Don’t blame the Democrats. The “average person” voted for Trump because that A.P. doesn’t GAF about anyone but himself/herself/themselves. That person doesn’t read enough to know that Trump = fascism = death to millions, sometimes including that person.

Keep that attitude up, and Dems will be finished as a viable alternative to MAGA Rs.

Yes. Working people have a keen sensitivity to disdain, and that comment epitomizes it.

From some people who were on the Harris Team as volunteers and know a lot, Dems need to change who they list as their important focus to include young men who are struggling to launch, to find a place in society, to establish relationships and to develop skills needed to find careers to be productive. Young Men need to find a Focus. As I listened to the Campaign, I repeatedly thought to myself that Men are omitted here and that is where Trump has the attraction in a very Destructive way. More young men need to be asked how the Democratic Party can improve their lives and their futures. Maybe it's a WPA type program and maybe they did not understand that was directed to them. This needs immediate attention so these alienated young men have a place with a good direction and hope for a future. Trump's Anger hooks them in and feeds the anger. I watched Jimmy Kimmel and their on street interviews with people who said yes, they were voting on election Day, Wednesday, Nov. 6 , many said they were voting for Harris on that DAY AFTER THE ELECTION. Another HUGE PROBLEM . So, where to reach these young people online for free rides to the polls. But, what we really need is nationwide mail-in BALLOTS. They are not following through with an intention to vote. All young adults. .

I myself was deluded by the emphasis on*Dobbs*/women's vote, as I too had 2022 mid-terms hangover, but you're right about young males, and the "men's vote" in general, as it did go predominately tRumpy...big ask to get it back, give. the DNC and national Dems fixation on Clinton/Obama voters, and complete ignorance of new realities re:working/middle classes.

If the Constitution does not get suspended by then.

I just hope the voter's remorse sets in.

Maybe they will learn it does not matter who pays the tariff, prices go up to cover the cost of the tariff (+ a little greed).

I believe traitor tommy tuberville will be up for re-election in 2 years. Hard to know which state he'll represent. He claims to represent Alabama, but by all accounts lives in Florida.

20 R Senate seats and 13 D. Map is definitely better for us. He should have raised prices on everyone by then, so we'll have good talking points.

I do, too.

I’ve decided I’m not going to sit in misery, I’m going to be angry, and begin to plan how to fight against the lawlessness of this criminal. I realize that anger, unless it is controlled can be counterproductive, but the alternative isn’t going to help. I want to find a community to work with to rebuild a nation from which we all benefit. If anyone knows of a resistance, I want to be an art of it.

I’m an old woman, and since we are “invisible”, we can accomplish things younger people can’t.

Sharon, I’m old, too. In case you and others here haven’t seen this, it’s not too late to sign up to listen tonight at 8:00 EST:

Great! Can you also possibly spill some ink on what news sources to get onboard with. I'm totally done with legacy media.

Some More News does a full focussed episode and two podcasts on their YouTube channel and I highly recommend them. They're weird and silly, and have an ongoing plotline about a puppet called Warmbo being corrupted by the alt-right, but honestly between them, Seth Meyers and Steven Colbert, I feel more informed than I ever did from 'official' news programs.

Stephen Colbert was the hug I needed last night.

Yes agreed. Any insights on quitting things will be appreciated. Like Amazon and Twitter/X to start with!

A few add'l suggestions on sources for info and insight, in no particular order:

Talking Points Memo

Semafor

The Atlantic

The Guardian

ProPublica

Democracy Docket

Heather Cox Richardson, Robert Hubbell, Joyce Vance, all on Substack

The list could easily go on and on, especially if we want to branch out into broader "big ideas" discussions. No doubt others will suggest many other excellent resources as well.

Oh I hope it's using his own tactics against him. E.G. look at how he delayed delayed delayed all the court cases against him. Tying him and his "administration" up in endless lawsuits sounds like a good start. Of course, with a SCOTUS in his back pocket, the lawsuits will ultimately be lost, but delay delay delay until the midterms is at least a starting point.

I need to know if you think there was interference in the numbers. I cannot wrap my head around us losing in all the swing states and the popular vote. It just doesn’t match what I’ve been watching. We need investigation into the counts in those states. Your thoughts? I’m i losing my mind? Cognitive dissonance?

Expand full comment

I'm also very confused by the numbers. Somehow more people were registered to vote than ever before yet 16+ million less votes were cast than in 2020? It doesn't make sense.

Sadly I don't think we can attribute this to malice. I'm sure SOME of it can, because MAGA, but something that big would be impossible to hide.

Not really with their multi layers of perticupants, Russia, Musk, etc, etc. And, all of the voters provided with voting DAY of NOVEMBER 6, WEDNESDAY.

I agree and I hate sounding like a magat but something isn’t adding up.

I still suspect a great deal of vote-tampering by Musk and Putin and our homegrown domestic terrorists (MAGA). I wish the Democrats would investigate.

The resistance must start now. We also have to start reorganizing the DNC. This failure can never happen again.

From Alexei Navalny's Prison Diaries (thanks to the New Yorker):

"Don’t be afraid of anything. This is our country and it’s the only one we have. The only thing we should fear is that we will surrender our homeland to be plundered by a gang of liars, thieves, and hypocrites. That we will surrender without a fight, voluntarily, our own future and the future of our children."

May we live up to those words.

Thank you Jay! I’m still in panic mode but you already forming a plan of resistance give me some calm.

I belong to a leftist prepper group, and this post rattled me. Someone talk me off the ledge and please tell me this is not actually going to happen: "Time is short. Yes, grieve this week, but soon (ASAP), wash your face and make your plans. Hit ler was appointed Chancellor of Germany at the end of January 1933. The Reichstag Fire happened one month later, ending civil liberties and allowing for the arrest of opponents. By the end of March, the Enabling Act was passed, giving him total dictatorial powers.

Project 2025 was designed to help a new T administration to hit the ground running — no start-up delays. Things will happen very quickly now, starting with martial law on day one — January 20, Inauguration Day — as T has promised. Any protests will be his Reichstag Fire.

Whatever you think you would have done if you had lived in Germany in late January of 1933, do it now."

I look forward to reading it.

I am trying to compile a list of every corporation, business, vendor, shop, etc. in my state that supported Donald Trump and trying to organize a permanent boycott of each and every one.

Many people supported Donald Trump because they know where their bread is buttered.

What they have forgotten is that bread always falls butter side down.

Thank you, Jay, for your invaluable support. It has always meant a great deal, and it means more now than ever.

Good! I'm leaning your way as well, so I'll be interested to hear what you have to say. I also am deeply sad at losing the dream, also very angry at the media, white women who voted for Trump, etc. etc. but I definitely don't want to just say, "oh, it will be fine". Literally anything is possible because they now have a very stacked deck on their side. However, that's exactly why we need to carve out a strategy for survival and growth. Thanks so much for being out there for all of us in this horrific struggle.

Alot of Older, wealthy White women voted for him and probably their husbands as well.

So Disgusted. These wealthy people have homes in USA, other Countries so they have numerous options in life and will not suffer any consequences. I don't know them personally but know someone who does and is furious that they voted Trump/ MAGA. Nothing will change that group.

Yes, I follow Jay, Dan Rather, Joyce Vance, Michael Moore, YouTube interviews with people involved who are very influential, wealthy, connected and know more because of those they are in contact with. They may appear on Diary of a CEO and other similar podcasts. We need to find more who may also be on Substack.ets begin a list of who to listen to, where to find those who have good info to inform us. I think our FIRST PLAN OF ACTION is finding those valuable RESOURCES ❗ The people who are in high places and get the information we don't have access to. 💥
